so MUCH news! Our PrimaLuna brand must have been the last 12 months the most
reviewed audio-item in the world. And it showed up in Stereophile's Class B
....!!! And good old Njoe Tjoeb cd-player is still singing her songs:
Stereophile Class C!! PrimaLuna mentioned in TAS: best new company, best new
product etc etc.
And today we received first productionsample of the ProLogue Three (preamp),
ProLogue Four (EL-34 based stereo poweramp) and ProLogue Five (KT-88 based
stereo poweramp). I am listening to a set right now. Beautiful, but I say no
more as tomorrow Marcel Croese will have to confirm that production is
flawless!

Time

result of the cooperation with our graphic man Koeno van der Schuur. Many
hours of work and discussion were necessary to come up with such a
"simple" design. PrimaLuna is Italian for "First
Moon". Knowing this, the logo looks -hopefully- quite logic and we
hope it will be soon recognized as a sign of high quality, reliability and

etc. I guess nobody thinks of the Dutch national footballteam which once was
very famous and now most probably is suffering more than ever. I am talking
about our PrimaLuna ProLogue One! If everything was going as it should

normal. Almost every month we spread 250 copies of Hifi News and this month it
seems again one of these months that the magazines do NOT show up! Very

What
the hell can excite you after being almost 30 years in this hifi-business?
Well, to be honest: actually quite a lot of things. I am still excited if I
listen to my good, old (but revised) Sequerra Reference tuner. It still gives me
all the pleasure of the world after all those years. I am still kind of
"jealous" if I visit my friend Bart and look and listen to his Krell
MRA amp. Still I can be puzzled about the performance of a small set of Sonus
Faber Concertino loudspeakers driven by our new PrimaLuna amplifier and sourced
by our not-so-young-anymore Njoe Tjoeb 4000. Simply music without all the
prestige the big boys are fighting for. I am still crazy enough to refuse to
make a sale of a product that excites me! So the Duntech's are NOT for sale.
The same for some Kiseki cartridges, Koetsu cartridges (even a specially
made-for-me 78 RPM version in Agaat-stone), Sony/SAEC/Dennesen tone-arms etc.

Remarkable! What do
you think if in the middle of the night Rob Wilms starts to call me -he knows I
am always late- to talk about the sonic improvements of his analog
equipment after having treated his records with the Loricraft Record
Cleaning Machine. After some discussions with Rob, Marcel, Ferry and the
first customers who bought this machine, we carefully dare to conclude that the
Loricraft people possibly don't know what they are doing (!). And I mean it in
the positive way! They know -and we do in the meantime- that they are
producing probably the best record-cleaning machines. What they might not know
is that they produce (at the same time) the best Record Enhancing Machine,
or whever name you want to give it. To go short: the Loricraft does not only clean
(and if I say clean, I mean clean) but it makes records sound so
much better that all feel that because of that, the machine becomes one the
cheapest tools to highly upgrade your analog section. Instead of (or next to)
an expensive phono-cable or cartridge or headamp, it suddenly might be very smart
to invest in a LoriCraft for better sound (and cleaner records of course ...).
We got quite some PrimaLuna reviews we can not read. But our Spanish
friends can. Thanks to our AH!-friend Manuel Garcia Garcia we

is very busy .... at home! I told him to take home our new Loricraft
lp-washing-machine. That way he can clean his discs and find out the maximum
about this machine. According to Marcel it cleans and sucks like hell. He is a
very happy man. One of these days I will tell him to return the machine, so
customers can see, hear and try the effects of deep-cleaning one of their
discs. Also the other shops will get a Loricraft machine soon!
Lately Hifi News has been very generous to us. A grand cru review
on the fantastic new Sonus Faber Stradivari loudspeakers and the Vienna
Acoustics Strauss loudspeakers. Both speakers -at a totally different
price-level- know to impress the Hifi News journalists ánd our
customers! We will try to publish these reviews on this website, but if you
can't wait ... get Hifi News, the magazine, as long as they are
available at the newsstand or from us!

again. We received our copy from the PrimaLuna ProLogue One Review in the
Italian magazine AUDIOREVIEW. It's in Italian of course, so I simply
have to believe the words from Italian friends that the reviewer is simply
raving about the musical qualities of The PrimaLuna ProLogue One. Also other
reviewers in other countries are reporting back that they are listening to an
amazingly good and affordable tube-amplifier. What can we add to that? Stay

gave up (due to -too- LOUD music) so they only party on one channel for the
rest of the evening. I don't believe however that she has any audiophile
guests, so as long as that one channel goes loud enough, I see no further
problems ...

from the U.$$.A.!! Despite low $, this country is still f*****g expensive! How
about a simple espresso coffee for $ 3.50 excluding 8% tax, excluding 20% tip.
In real money that is > Hfl 8,-. Sorry, I still calculate now and than in
Dutch Guilders to better realise the (non)"value"! Anyway, Las Vegas
was fun as always and as it should be. Despite the high security on every
corner of the street, the airports, the hotels etc.
It was the show with a number of positive people as the sales during the last
months of 2003 were good for them. Others were not so positive, or better, were
negative or even disappeared from the market .... I don't have to mention
brands, but one of the Leaders of the Gang is at least for 12 months out of the
market. Why? Simply because it was not profitable and the big, big
parent-company wants to see PROFITS!! As simple as that. The other Leader of
the Gang, Krell, was feeling good at the show, as they took on quite a
bit of new US dealers ... Wadia also seems to be back with a range of
new products. The man Mark Levinson, now from RedRose, was suffering again ...
I think the man is a genius, but knowing him personally very well and having
seen what he did the last 30 years, I think the best would be to continue to
write about female orgasmes ... What I hear is that people seem to get tired to
be confronted with his coming-up and going-down adventures (no, this is not
referring to his latest book ...). Read what Enjoy-the-Music, a leading
audiophile website in U.S.A. wrote: "What happens when you lose a
company with your name, another company you start up goes under shortly after
you leave (thereby making any warranty work null and void), and then you dare
to start yet another company that stirred some controversy as to the true
origins of the electronics, then have an interesting divorce, then followed
by... Well, read it

And further was Las Vegas full of nice sunny weater between 15 and 20 degrees Celcius. Krell was completing the ShowCase Set with their new DVD-player. Transparent was showing the full new line of their MM-version cables. Kevin Deal was partying backstage with Tom Jones his Enjoy-the-Music Award for our AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 cd-player as being the best digital product of the year 2003! Sonus Faber was proudly showing the new Stradivari loudspeakers. Vienna Acoustics was getting full attention for their highly superdesigned aluminium home-cinema range of loudspeakers. Conrad-Johnson was proudly pointing at their beautiful reference tube-preamplifier. Our PrimaLuna brand will start distribution in Japan with DotLabo and with Upscale Audio in USA. Samples have been received with full enthousiasme. Kevin: "I am thrilled, no, better: I am over-thrilled with the quality of build and musicality. It's deadsilent (on high-efficiency horn-loudspeakers) as for hum and hiss and superdynamic on my favorite noise: music!. Thank You!" |

Vic Diederen just
translated Rob Wilms' review of the PrimaLuna ProLogue One
into English
and he is on his way of delivering more translations. Keep an eye on this page
to see reviews in different languages. Another PrimaLuna ProLogue One review
(in Dutch language) is here from HifiShop customer Rob Leijsen. What else? Well, we amazed
ourselves with very simple things ... Since long I could never understand why
high-quality cables were "highly recommended" while for example
inside the speaker just very "simple" wiring was found. I remember
one speaker-manufacturer (Wilson Audio) being very "proud" to use
better-than-average cable: Monster. I always wondered what the effect would be
if inside and outside the same high-quality cable was used. We
listened to our first prototype AH! TjoeLipS loudspeakers with
"standard" internal wiring. The speaker performed very well, without
any question and visitors in our shop were attracted by the sound and asked
"What's that"? But what happened after we replaced the internal
wiring with our AH! LS Direkt KB 8 loudspeakercable is simply
unbelievable! We have a NO-SPEAKER-IS-THERE-SOUNDSTAGE!!! Lots of air,
transparency, ease. True-size imaging and no speakers!!! We are still
fine-tuning as we want to get the maximum out of this design. But it reminds me
of the time that Dan D'Agostino took me by the arm during a CES-Show in Las
vegas, brought me to the room of Wilson Audio and pushed me into a sofa to
listen to the Watt/Puppy 2/3. At that time I didn't know more to say than
"I want to have this, I want to distribute this", got the price from
Dave Wilson personally (yep, at that time that was still possible ...) and remember
that later during the night I could not sleep as I had no idea if I could pay
the order I just placed and if I could sell what I just ordered. Anyway, at that
time that feeling was good! And it's nice to have that same kind of
feeling with our AH! TjoeLipS. I think these speakers are
sensational. Other people talk about it as Wutt/Pappies. Well, whatever. I know
we are having here a sensational speaker for a sensational price .... Euro
1750,- a pair!! we hope. Wait for the dealers, distributors who ask to double
the price so they will make more money!! No way! This is AH!
Give you far more value than anyone else. You want to pay double? No problem.
Visit another "family" and you will get another (even
less-tweaked) version of this "flower" of music and joy for a more-than-double
retailprice .... Let me see if my pictures show up good enough on this page
to make you see the differences and non-differences between tulips, roses,
lilies etc.

Just
back from Rome after having visited the AUDIA friends. First we went to
visit their neat and well-organized design-studio. Massimiliano and Andreia
explained how they work. Design and prototyping is done in-home. After a
protoype is accepted for production, Audia organizes the flow of components which
are all measured and selected at their premises. The selected parts are used to
send to a Class A1 board-manufacturer who returnes the tested boards to Audia.
At Audia the boards are tested again and than the assembly of the final product
starts. Once the final product is assembled a series of tests are run again.
Than follows a burn-in period after which again the final product is tested
before it is packed in the wooden Audia crates. Quite simple but very
beautiful! In the days after, during our visits to Roma-town, we noticed again
that the Italians have it in their fingers: design, craftmanship, music, beauty
etc.
How time flies! I noticed that Stereophile magazine, published the AH!
Njoe Tjoeb 4000 review of last month, in their archives. The advantage of that
is that we can link you to the Stereophile

(Marcel talks about 2LipS) and the new Copland CSA-29 integrated amplifier. The
Copland CSA-29 is already available, while the AH! Black TjoeLipS
speakers are on the way for delivery. We urgently wait for the next prototypes.
The design of the stands for the AH! Black TjoeLipS speakers is
done and first prototypes are being made right now. I was updated today on the AH!
phonoboard and I can tell you, 2004 is gonna be a beautiful year. Marcel Croese

What
a pleasure to read the review of Harby Scheper
on his new PrimaLuna tube-amplifier! It's a good feeling to read how much pleasure
a customer can have with his new toy. Personally, I just restarted to use my
beloved Sequerra tuner after it was cleaned and fine-tuned by Marcel Croese.
It's again extremely difficult to stand up and go to bed. Just another 5
minutes and than ... Too often, hours later, I wake up from the sofa and
(feeling my back and neck) regret that I did not stop listening to the radio on
a "normal" time in the evening or night. Anyway, it's fun and
certainly better than reading reviews and reports which seem to be filled with
taste of vinegar, like the author wants to prove the public that it is the
biggest punishment in life to listen to music and equipment. Anyway, enjoy Harby Scheper's
review on his new PrimaLuna tube-amplifier!

I
have for sale: Wilson Watt/Puppy 6 due to my intention to enjoy Sonus
Faber's new miraculous Stradivari loudspeakers! I also have for
sale one pair Guarneri in Amati color (available in about 6 months ...)!
Why? Because 2 weeks ago I decided to build a home-cinema system with 4
pieces of Guarneri (special order: in Amati color) and 1 Cremona
center speaker (also special order in Amati color). It is not
difficult to understand if you had a look at the pictures and text found after
clicking on the "Click here"-link in our news of november
05. The price of this new Sonus Faber is in the same range as that from the
Wilson Watt/Puppy. So both systems are not cheap. But can you imagine
what the price of the Stradivari would be if a manufacturer like Wilson had to
produce such a beautiful instrument? If they even can produce this!! And
I strongly doubt it! As a distributor I always think of products in several
ways. One way of thinking is: What happens if the relation between us and a
manufacturer ends? The answers are always different. It can be that you have
done so much and worked so hard to establish the brand that you decide to
continue the brand in "a different way". You can try to find a
same-kind-of-brand or you can create a-same-kind-of-brand. Well
we are more the organisation that prefers to try to create a new
same-kind-of-brand. That's why we are designing our follow-up brand Xenario for Primare!
And yes, it takes long! No, I should say: it takes longer than we expected,
intended and wanted. Why? Because we do it the difficult and expensive way!
Which is -as we think- also the best way. We have decided to design a heavily
improved follow-up brand Xenario! Full
of original design. That takes time and money, but the results are expected to
be far better than the products of the brand that "inspired"
us to do so. So if we talk Xenario, we talk original designs and products.
So if you open the Xenario integrated amplifiers you will see new
and original designs. No boards that have been designed and used by and/or
other brands!! Would you like to buy an expensive tuner and find out (after
taking off the cover) that you have bought a NAD tuner? Nothing wrong
with NAD but not what you expect to get if you buy a heavily marketed
and priced model of a dito brand. So if we will come up with the Xenario tuner,
it will be a real Xenario tuner! Same for other models. Personally
I think it is a shame that manufacturers more and more use this non-original
policy, hifi-press closes the eyes for this and consumers are fooled this way. IF
you market a product without (re)designing it, than it should be cheaper
than original! Ok, this was my sunday-morning steam that I had to get rid
of!
Up to the next ... We have received again a consumer review on our PrimaLuna ProLogue One tube-amplifier by Ruben
Rutten. Audia
was so kind to mail us a (partial) translation of a German review on
the Flight One.
I noticed -shame on me- that a full story of Koos Boshoven
on the Audia Flight Pre and 50 was not issued yet!! Stefan Krawczyk -
living in multy-language-town Bruxelles - was so kind to translate his English PrimaLuna ProLogue One review in French
language and ... also a Dutch translation is
on the way to us. And ... he mentioned to get "rubber knees" hearing
about our AH! Black TjoeLipS loudspeakers. He asked to be the
first one to review these as he claims to be a lifetime-ribbon-addict. Mmmm, I
am afraid that some of our people, specially Marcel van Overbeek, will not
agree with that. And I understand! They, specially Marcel, have been
involved from the beginning till the end to grow this new AH! kid.
Be patient please, even if we can not! PrimaLuna ProLogue One owner Vic
Diederen who gave us a review on his amp in English is an English teacher
and free-lance translator. He wants to translate some Dutch reviews in English
for us, so more people worldwide can understand what you -our customer- think

busy with writing down some of his hifi- and music experiences during the day

As we have explained before on this website Audia is Italian. Very
Italian! And of course the products have been reviewed during the years in
Italy. Unfortunately most of our readers don't read or speak Italian. That's
why we asked for some translations (into English) and that's what we have here for you. Please read and see that
it's not only us being so enthousiastic about Audia's products. By
the way, also England has discovered the Audia products. The English
distributor for Vienna Acoustics -Henley Designs- was giving
goose-bump-demos with Audia pre- and power on Vienna Mahler
loudspeakers as witnessed by our own Marcel van Overbeek!
By the way, Marcel van Overbeek safely returned from London Heathrow Hifi Show.
Although this show did not get a lot of realtime airplay from Dutch and US
websites (as far as I could find out), it seems it was very well visited. Icon
Audio's room was simply too small as almost all the time, it was overloaded
with visitors. Not only one-time visitors but also returning visitors bringing
other visitors in to let them see and hear the Icon Audio and AH! products.
Marcel brought and demonstrated from AH! the Tjoeb 66
amplifier, the new MM/MC phono-stage (without tubes!!) and the new LSDouble
Direkt KB8 loudspeakercables. Overall results were very fine, as was
mentioned by most visitors. Next year we will certainly be back with certainly
more products. Thanks to Marcel and Icon Audio for spreading the AH!

Marcel van Overbeek has just finished 2 weeks of his holidays and next week he
will partly rest and partly walk the "4-Daagse" in Nijmegen. So be
carefull not to touch his toes when he is back again in the shop. Maybe he is
sharing his feelings about the Audia integrated amplifier as that was
the one joining him during his vacation.
We are expecting now every day the arrival of the new Krell integrated
amplier and Sacd-player. Wait for further news about this.
Marcel Croese has left the building last thursday, but not before uploading his
files for the next Xenario® motherboard. If you want to have a
look, click here. The front-display board is already assembled
and I will try to get a picture uploaded too. If you know where and how to
look, you can see that tube-sockets are involved, but still you can use this
integrated amp with and without tubes ....
DÉ HIFISTUDIO in Weerdinge is closed for the next 3 weeks. Ferry is spending
his time on a boat this time instead of a motor. Rumours say he took his new
favorites: Shakti Hallograph ...... Just before he left he reported on
the prototype of the new AH! phonostage (by Marcel Croese) and
our new PrimaLuna ProLogue tube-integrated
amplifier. The first shipment of this tube-integrated amplifier is arriving
next week and than we will announce the final retailprice. I can already state
it is below Euro 1,000.- but not yet how much .... Sound- and build-quality is

know I should have been already home now, but I take an extra moment to give an
usefull tip here. A tip we often give to customers visiting us: if you buy a
cd-player, specially if it is an expensive one, buy at the same time a
laserhead for possible future repairs. It's better to make a small investment
for a laserhead than discovering at a certain moment that these are not
available anymore or extremely expensive. Think of the Philips CDM9-Pro which
was used very often in expensive high-end machines. For people who have a
problem because they cannot get a CDM-9Pro anymore, we might have a solution by
the way. Contact us about that.

Italy rules
the hifi-waves? It looks like it. From Greece we received very positive
reactions from an Audia owner. We want to share his enthousiasm with you
and repeat his comments in this news-section. In a few days I will also be able
to publish a translation in English from a hifi-magazine in the Olympic
country. As far as I understand Audia goes for Olympic Gold in Greece
and I trust also in BeNeLux. An excellent replacement for us for Theta
and Ayre!
Well, we start with the comments from Mr. Nikos Kamvissis:
I have just substituted the Musical Fidelity Nuvista with the AUDIA
FLIGHT PRE and the initial impressions of the new preamplifier are very
positive ... I believe this is a wonderful preamp and having heard the
Audio Flight 100 in my system, I can also add that this is a very musical pair.
Much better than the Musical Fidelity 300 and slightly better than the classic
Pass Aleph 5.
AUDIA FLIGHT PRE
The most common nightmare of every hi-end lover is the "upgrade
path". How many times have we substituted a piece of our audio nirvana
chain with a much more expensive component which is hopefully better and the
total gains in musical satisfaction are small? Only with a relatively long home
audition can we minimise the "upgrade risk" ... I was very lucky
because the local Audia distributor gave me the opportunity to listen to
this preamp for a couple of days last September, so I had a good idea of the
sonic signature of the preamp and the resulting effect on my system. Musical
Fidelity 'Nuvista' that I replaced, was at the time of purchase in 1998 (it
was a limited edition of only 500 units, so is not available any more) nearly
one third (1400 Euro) of the current list price (4100 Euro) of the Audia
Flight Pre. However it is a very highly praised component in respected
Hi-End magazines ('Stereophile', 'HiFI News', 'Grammophone', 'IHOS',
'Extreme Audio Video') especially when partnered with its sister power
amplifier, the Nuvista 300. So what does the Audia offer that the
Musical Fidelity cannot match? Two major differences are immediately
heard:
Transparency
It is obvious from the first few minutes that the Audia is an outstandingly transparent amplifier. It is evident in the choral passages of Missa Criola, the dense instrumental parts of Áãñõðíéá (Vigil) of Thanassis Papakonstantinou, the elaborate nuances of the voice of Cassandra Wilson in Belly of the Sun, the placement of the individual instruments in Trouble Every Day OST by the Tindersticks. It seems that all the information passing through the preamplifier is there, clearly placed in space and time, nothing is hidden or even blurred. Is it due to the constant impedance attenuation realized with low noise resistors and relays? The sealed relays of the input selector? The tolerance of the resistors and capacitors?Speed
Instantaneous response is the phrase that comes to my mind. This is not only a measure of the time to reach a dynamic climax but mainly to my view has to do with the micro dynamic fluctuations of the human voice that must be accurately portrayed. Again the Audia excels in all programs I tried, and is evident in multi layered vocal material ranging from the chorus of Missa Criolla, to the Chanticleer traditional Christmas songs and even to the duet of Dulce Pontes and Valdemar Bastos in O Primeiro Canto. Again I cannot tell for sure whether this is indicated by the extraordinary slew rate measurements (>250 V/ms) or if it is partly the result of the ultra fast diodes and the three large toroidal transformers.
In addition to the Speed and Transparency the Audia
offers a continuous homogenity over the entire frequency range with no
major audible peaks. Equally important to me is the portrayal of voices and
strings which are less metallic than they used to be (I suspect that an update
of the analog part of the DAC will correct this and that it is no fault of the
amplifying components ... further on this later) and more lifelike with better
depth and "breath".
As far as sound staging the image is stable and very deep with
adequate dimensions. A note must also be made on the outstanding finishing
(the solid block aluminum remote can be used as a weapon!) and attention to
detail (oh these Italians..) All in all this is clearly a new level of
performance for my system, and even better than what I was anticipating ...

this period june/july 2003 we have a very special
"birthday-party"! I am proud to announce the 10th birthday of Sonus
Faber Guarneri Homage. I think everyone agrees that it is very unusual that
a loudspeaker exists that long and is still a very wanted product! We are so
convinced about the quality of this Sonus Faber model that we have an agreement
with the manufacturer that we will buy the last 100 pairs which are ever going
to be produced. I hope that that is still a long time away as this speaker is
unreplaceable with any other product in the market. Congratulations Mr.
Serblin, congratulations Césare, congratulations to all at Sonus Faber to have
created such an excellent product. Congratulations Sonus Faber Guarneri owners
for your good taste and support!
We are running a MicroMega-Project! Before you get the idea that we
picked up this line again ... No! No! No! No way ever! But we started
cleaning our warehouse where we have a mix of about 75 MicroMega players,
drives and dacs that will go out deadcheap, but only after we have
controlled them to be better than new!

Today's
main customerdemo was a revelation! One of our most demanding clients, owner of
a pair of Lumen White - White Light loudspeakers (high-efficiency!!!),
wanted to upgrade his Theta Dreadnaught poweramplifier. Tube-sound was
preferred, but he was absolutely not considering buying tube-equipment. To make
a long story short: during a 4-hours session he/we compared the topmodels of Theta,
Ayre and Audia. Of these products Audia was absolutely
unknown for him. Yet, at the end of the session he came to the conclusion that
the Audia Flight 100, was his favorable choice, but he said ... "Probably
that amp is costing a fortune"!! We asked him to guess what was
the price for this amplifier and he came up with something between Euro
10.000,- and Euro 15.000,-! Once we told him that this was an European product
and that the price was under Euro 7.000,- he could not believe his ears. "This
is the first time in my hifi-life that an European amplifier is beating his
American brothers so convincingly. It's combining the best of both the
Dreadnaught and Ayre V1-S. Silky, yet powerfull and NO tubes to replace!".
What more can we say????

If
I may describe the Frankfurt High-End Show in a few sentences:
Thursday : First day of Show for Press and Trade. Marcel made the
trip from Eindhoven to Frankfurt and installed his range of AH!
products. Great interest for the AH! Njoe Tjoeb cd-player and the
Decca tone-arm he was carrying with him. I did all floors and noticed
again a number of new manufacturers and noticed also that a number of the new
ones from last year did not show up anymore. This was also my opportunity to
compare the new style Transparent cables against the (now) old models.
Very amazing was the fact that these new models beat the old cables at ease.
The new Plus range beats easily the old Super range and
the people in the room agreed that it even came frightingly close to the
former Ultra level. We will repeat these tests as soon as we have all new
cables in stock. Well done Transparent!
Friday : Krell day! We all know how difficult it is to get your
hands on a Krell 300i integrated amplifier. Even if it is already quite
old! Well we have very good news! Krell is coming up with a new

Friday was also ... Vienna day! How stupid I have been to wait so
long for visiting this beautiful city! Splendid. How stupid I have been to wait
so long for visiting Vienna Acoustics! Splendid. It is well understood
now why Vienna can be considered as top of the tops. Like the
Italians these people have it in their blood. And ... the atmosphere was so
relaxed, so Copenhage-like, that you cannot believe this still exists. At 5
o'clock in the afternoon I realized I didn't see 1 police-officer yet!! And
there was obviously no need to have one around! Maybe they should send Balkende
& Zalm to see how we can do with less blue in the street instead of more!

mentioned subject.

Long-time
customers know that we rely very much on our own opinion and on the opinions
of our customers. A very clear example for that is the way the sales of our AH!
products are generated. We find or design a product of which we think it has
exceptional properties, certainly considering the retail-price we can offer it
for. Than we ask our customers to share their experience and opinions with us.
That way we learn if the customer is satisfied or not, we learn more about the
products (simply because the customer has the time to live with it
day-by-day) and we have material to share with new clients. Of course we also
try as much as possible to live at home with the products we sell, but
honestly, we have less time for that than most customers. However ... the

What
is it all about? Twenty-nine hours of travelling because Mr. Bush was visiting
Chicago and all trafic on the road and in the air wasn’t allowed to move!
Delays, missing connections, damaged and/or missing luggage etc. USA seems to
be totally paralysed because of possible terrorist’s attacks. Las Vegas also
means nice -dry- weather, Julio Iglesias, Tom Jones, Rolling Stones on their
way, 24-hours of gambling, drinks and good food (if you know where to find it).
Most beautiful lightning, lions, white tigers, elephants to -almost- touch. BIG
cars, BIG drinks, BIG ... EVERYTHING! Gossip-press writing about Mark Levinson
being thrown out by his Sex-in-the-City wife. Krell showing the KAV-series in
black (très chique), a new range of loudspeakers, a lower-priced dvd-player and
a sacd-player. Several AH!-Moments (in Dutch the so-called AH! Erlebnisse) when
I was walking around the show with our Kevin Deal. Both Sonus Faber and Vienna
Acoustics having very good results with their new models. Wilson announcing a
new model, the X-2. Tice no longer in electronics, but in real-estate instead.
Some manufacturers asked upon their prices, explain they don’t produce for
audiophiles, but for millionaires instead. Some hifi-people getting crazy about
the Hummer and trying it out on 45 degrees roads. An OXYGEN-BAR (!!) in the
middle of a shopping mall. Confirmation that the H****N of H*******M are still
running around to chase and get the Old-Time-Favorites of the industry. Good
luck! T.H.E. Show next-door was depressive compared to the C.E.S. locations.
Ken Kessler came up with a new model beard/moustache. Las Vegas has a new Home
Theater Dealer who just invested 6-8 Million US $$ in his (impressive)
showrooms. It’s also 967 emails to sort, delete and/or answer after coming back
home… From the Lumen White designer we saw some other -more affordable-
loudspeaker-designs. Not only foreign visitors, but also a lot of foreign
exhibitors: Italians everywhere and of course lots of Chinese and Korean
manufacturers. Video-screens get bigger and bigger, you have to have
installations in every room of your house and if your light does not turn on
automatically or the curtains still have to be closed manually, you sometimes

What's Up? What's On! We regret that after 12,5 years of official representation of Wilson
Audio in the BeNeLux we have to announce that we see no further ground to
continue that investment. Lots of changes since the moment we started to build
up this brand: other people, other products, other price-ranges, other economic
situations, other interests, other philiosophies, more competitors etc., are
our main reasons. Besides that, the growing grey market for high-end products
is becoming funest for companies trying to keep that network going. While
loudspeakers don't need that much aftersales service, all electronics
do. Being the official distributor, a growing grey market can become a very
unprofitable business. While we still enjoy a healthy business, we want to
avoid that our business starts to suffer from the dramatic loss of sales some
high-end companies have worldwide since the last 2 years. We will continue to
support those companies which we think are strong enough to survive. Through
our worldwide network of high-end distributors we will be able to continue to
offer any high-end product of interest for a better price than ever before. For
the brands we feel a direct replacement is necessary for our customers, we will
try to find a more stable, more realistic solution. Either in the form of an
existing brand or a brand to be created together with a number of other
high-end distributors and designers. So What's Up? You don't have to be Sherlock

has been busy the last 6 months to include their proven MM Opus technology in
all their other models. The results are said to be "Improved dynamic
freedom and ease", "Better textual accuracy", "Improved
low-level resolution", "More
performance for the same price".
The
new Cable Technology shows lower noise-levels, lower resonances and superior
signal transfer. Components for the networks have tighter tolerances and are
smaller in size. Most network modules are non-metal, non-magnetic now which
results in increased dynamics and resolution.

I
just returned from the HIFI Show in Frankfurt. Weather was nice and on thursday
(trade-day) the show was well-attended, but not too crowded. That made it a
nice visit. Quite a few top-level brands were NOT on display, so NO Classé
Audio, NO Theta, NO Madrigal etc. This was something which was noticed by the
people from Krell who did not understand that their direct competition was not
on the show. On the other hand there was a lot of mid/mid-top hifi available
from European countries. It's going to be busy on the market ... if all these
brands find a way to stay in business! Time will tell.

deep regrets I read that Yoshiaki Sugano, famous maker of Koetsu cartridges,
died. I have lots of very good memories from the time I discovered him in Japan
and distributed his phono-cartridges and tone-arm for Europe. This evening I
have been telling my collegue Marcel Croese about that period. Enough stuff to
write a nice story about. I'll see if I can find the time to do so.

will be closed on May 9, 10 and 11. Our shop in Tilburg will be closed on May

you visit us while we are closed.
As announced last week, we do have a special choice of opamps for AH! Njoe
Tjoeb 4000 owners, but also for other people who can use these single opamps
for upgrading their equipment. As these TjoebTjoens are not needed anymore if
you decide to buy an AH! TjoUpsampler (reserve here), we have a special trade-in programm for these parts:
The TjoUpsampler's introduction price is EUR 325,-. You can trade in your
original BB 604 set + Philips DAC for EUR 10,-. The Tjoeb Tjoens OPA627 set
trades in for EUR 25,- and the Tjoeb Tjoens LC/AD825 set for EUR 15. This gives
all the AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 owners the maximum possibility to "play"
with their machine and sound at minimum cost.
Last weeks several customers have upgraded their ac and dc cables with KB8 and
KB10 cables. All of them agreed this to be a major upgrade. One of our
customers (owning FPB650m amps and Wilson Audio Grand Slam loudspeakers claims
his Krell KRC-HR sounds 10 times better with the new KB8 connection between his

What you see on the left are two types of highest-quality OpAmps to fine-tune your AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000. Same idea as what people do with different tubes. We have chosen for 2 sets. Mark Levinson
-the man, not the company- is most probably known to every man visiting this
website. And he deserves it, due to all his actions in this industry. Very
known for his hifi and very known for the investments of most of his former
partners. Small joke: When Mark settled for a new partnership with an American
multi-millionaire, the industry (the hifi-industry, so they might have been
jealous) claimed that his new partner would become very fast a millionaire
......
What's new with Mark? Well, I translate from a Dutch gossip-magazine:
"Samantha writes sexbook". It's of course logical. Sex and the City's
sexexpert, Samantha has written a book. Together with her husband Mark
Levinson Kim Cattrall wrote Satisfaction, The Art of the Female Orgasm.
It's an illustrated sex-manual with the main purpose to inform a man how he can
bring his wife to an untill than unknown level of satisfaction. In the foreword
of the book Kim (45) tells how she was herself sexually frustrated for many
years. "Untill I met my current husband (here Mark comes in). If a man
knows how to bring his wife to full satisfaction, he frees her from negatives
emotions like frustration, disappointment en angryness". And as the Dutch
gossip-magazine states: Isn't that better for all of us? I could add a number
of other stories about what Mark did and did not while we were distributing his
Cello products, but I think I better keep those stories until I write my
personal Hifi Book ....
Personally,
I am wondering who is going to be the next from our industry who is going to
write a book about his / her "flashing designs between the sheets".
And
for the sake of hifi: we have a new link to the LumenWhite website in the "brand-division" of our website. Also clickable from
this page. Rob Wilms is listening at home to the smaller model of the two, The
White Flame. He will for sure report as soon as possible about his initial
findings with this new speakerbrand.

That
must have been quite a surprise for both Marantz and Denon people
to hear about the new Holding to which both their companies belong now! For us
it would be like hearing that we were going to be partner of ....... No, let's
be smart and not even think about that! It indicates however how much the
multimedia-world is changing. That is not only true at the level of larger
manufacturers like Denon and Marantz, but also at the level of smaller
"niche" manufacturers, distributors and even dealers. And don't forget
the magazines.
Looking to our own position is proving how fast things can and have to change.
I can easily say that if we didn't do what we have done, we probably would have
all kind of problems or better: maybe no hifi-related problems anymore! And
.... it is exciting to follow new roads! Distributors picking up the
retail-work. Distributors going intom manufacturing. Retailers doing some
import- and distributionwork, magazines selling cd's and other sofware.
Manufacturers going direct. Etc. Etc. All kind of new things are happening
around us. And who is going to survive? Probably only a few. Who has the best
chance to survive? Probably the ones who have most capabilities and creativity.
As always, time will tell.
For
us it simply means that, for the time being, we will continue to be part of
developing, manufacturing, modifying, servicing, repairing, importing,
distributing, exporting, marketing, retailing hifi- and music related products.
It's interesting to be part of so many different activities and the best way to
learn the maximum.

Acoustics from Austria just announced the news that they will issue 2 new
speakers to complete their range. The model Strauss will fit between the
Beethoven and The Mahler. Both these speakers offer exceptional value and
quality for the money and we can only expect the same for the new Strauss

Ooops ..... is het alweer 2002!!! Hoe snel gaat
de tijd. Al ons "nieuws" is dus weer blijven liggen. Jammer, maar
geloof ons, dat is echt het gevolg van het gewone alledaagse werk dat we voor
onze klanten moeten verrichten en dat gaat echt voor!! En we hebben natuurlijk,
net als ieder ander, genoten van vrije Feestdagen, Carnavalsdagen etc.
Overigens wil dat niet zeggen dat er niets gebeurd is op onze site! De
Transfairs zijn en worden, indien nodig, bijgewerkt. Het Gastenboek was
slachtoffer van een script-verandering bij onze provider en dat moest en is
aangepast. Via de link "De Merken" ziet U verandere sites van onder andere
Krell, Sonus Faber, Vienna Acoustics. De linken op de welkomstpagina zijn
bijgewerkt, zodat U na het aanklikken weer bij de reviews van de AH! Njoe Tjoeb
en andere AH! produkten komt. Er zijn links toegevoegd van recensies uit
Italië, Engeland en Nieuw Zeeland.
En ja, de geruchten zijn (z)waar! Er is een AH!
TjoUpsampler op komst. Deze 24bits / 192 (!) KHz dac-upsampler optie
zal inplugbaar zijn op ALLE AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 cd-spelers die uitgebracht
zijn. Het basis-ontwerp en de dsp-software (het gaat dus niet om een printje
met 2 of 3 standaard Crystal chippies aan elkaar geknoopt) zijn afkomstig uit
de kringen van een bekende (zoniet de bekendste) Zwitserse High-End fabrikant.
De richtprijs bedraagt EUR 325,- en dat is een factor 2 of 3 goedkoper
als vergelijkbare produkten in de markt.
En daarnaast hebben we nog wat "zout en peper" smaakmakers voor de
AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 bezitters in petto in de vorm van verschillende opamp
setjes. Net als met buizen kunt U met deze opamps experimenteren en het
eindresultaat van uw set aan uw wensen aanpassen.
Waarschijnlijk zal het volgende nieuws (hopelijk voor 2003) in de Engelse taal
gepubliceerd worden om zodoende ook ons voortdurend groeiend aantal
buitenlandse klanten te kunnen bereiken. Nederland is nogal een internationaal
landje, dus wij hopen en verwachten niet dat dit problemen voor de vaderlandse

zijn de laatste week van het jaar 2001 gesloten. DÉ HIFISTUDIO Weerdinge is
vrijdagmiddag 28 december en zaterdag 29 december 2001 gesloten.
THE HIFISHOP Tilburg zal 2 januari 2002 de deuren weer openen.
Vandaag is het eerste paar Sonus Faber Cremona luidsprekers bij ons
binnengekomen. In Eindhoven wordt de luidspreker momenteel losgespeeld met de
speciale "inspeel-cd" van Purist Audio. Over de klankkwaliteiten valt
dus nog niets te zeggen, maar de voorberichten zijn erg goed. Het uiterlijk
doet meteen denken aan de befaamde AMATI. PRACHTIG. De prijs Hfl 14.000,- per
paar.

Even heel snel nieuws: DÉ HIFIWINKEL Beek-Ubbergen is in de periode tussen Kerst en Nieuwjaar GESLOTEN. Voor de openingsuren / sluitingstijden van de andere winkels aub voor het afreizen graag telefonische controle om teleurstelling te voorkomen.

Ter informatie: DÉ HIFISTUDIO in Weerdinge-Emmen is vandaag slechts gedeeltelijk open geweest. Wegens een extreme griep van Ferry is de winkel in ieder geval tot donderdag gesloten. Wilt U afreizen naar DÉ HIFISTUDIO in Weerdinge-Emmen, dan verdient het aanbeveling eerst even te bellen (0591 -611111).
Tevens maak ik van de gelegenheid gebruik om te
melden dat DÉ HIFISTUDIO in Weerdinge-Emmen op zaterdag 13 oktober 2001 ook
gesloten zal zijn.
Naast de AH! TjoebSjoes, de speciale voetjes voor de Tjoeb cd-spelers,
maar ook voor vele apparaten van andere merken, krijgen we nu ook de
beschikking over AH! TjoebSjelfs. Deze apparaten-plateaus zijn in 3
uitvoeringen leverbaar: Classic, Evolution en Basic. De AH! TjoebSjelfs zijn,
net als de AH! TjoebSjoes het resultaat van onze samenwerking met SSC. Er wordt
gewerkt aan een speciaal plateau voor de voeding van de Michell draaitafel. Er
is al een AH! TjoebSjelf (Basic) verkrijgbaar vanaf Hfl 295,-.
DÉ HIFIWINKEL in Beek-Ubbergen bij Nijmegen zal van 8 oktober 2001 tot en met 13 oktober 2001 gesloten zijn wegens de najaarvakantie van Rob.
En dan een nieuwtje dat ons net ter ore is gekomen: Bo Christensen is al sinds 1 maand niet langer verbonden aan Bow Technologies. Het schijnt dat hij nu samen met zijn zoon, luidsprekers gaat bouwen. Wederom succes zullen we maar zeggen!

De afgelopen week heb ik best wel vaak overdacht of ik hier wel of niet moest ingaan op de ramp die zich in New York voltrokken heeft. Het is immers politiek gezien zo eenvoudig om iets verkeerd te zeggen of te schrijven. Toch denk ik dat we er niet aan voorbij kunnen gaan om ons medeleven te betuigen aan alle slachtoffers en nabestaanden van deze ramp. Het moet voor de nabestaanden een hart onder de riem zijn om te zien hoe de wereld meeleeft met hun verdriet. Wel vroeg ik me afgelopen vrijdag af of de meeste Nederlanders hun Nationale Driekleur na de teleurstellende voetbalprestaties al bij het vuilnis gedeponeerd hadden ......

Al eerder schreef ik dat de grote baas boven de wolken -althans volgens mij- een beetje de kluts kwijt was. In ieder geval loopt zijn "administratie van mogelijke doelwitten" niet geheel parallel aan die van mij! Gisteren hoorde ik van het overlijden van Frans(ke) van den Berghe van BNS (vandenBerghe Noble Sound). Ook al bewogen wij ons in een verschillende gedeelte van de branche, toch kwamen we elkaar weleens tegen. Een zo'n ontmoeting is voor ons "legendarisch" en al vaak het onderwerp van gesprek en vrolijkheid geweest. Dat wil ik U niet onthouden: Op een gegeven moment was Frans min of meer de export-vertegenwoordiger voor Jan-Allaerts elementen. In die functie was hij dan ook in Amerika op de CES in Las Vegas of Chicago, dat weet ik niet meer. In een café waar een aantal mensen uit de branche bijeen waren was ook Frans. Hij vroeg mij of hij bij ons mocht komen zitten. Ik zei "natuurlijk" en stelde hem onder andere voor aan Glenn Grue (die wij vanwege zijn "over"vriendelijkheid Glenn "Glue" noemden) van Classé Audio. Franske, nieuw in de high-end-wereld, fluisterde toen zachtjes in mijn oor: "Classé, is dè ook high-end?". Om die ontwapende onwetendheid van een beginnende high-ender, hebben we nog vaak moet lachen. Ik denk wel dat we mogen zeggen dat Frans naast de nodige tegenslagen die hij gehad heeft, ook goed genoten heeft. En dat kun je maar gehad hebben, dat zie je maar weer. Onze deelneming gaat uit naar Frans zijn familie, vrienden en kennissen.

Het lijkt erop alsof "de baas boven de wolken" een beetje de kluts kwijt is. Althans wat mij betreft. Na Herman Brood en Harvey Rosenberg hoor ik net dat Sylvia Millecam op 45-jarige leeftijd is overleden. Weer een soldaat minder in het kleine leger van mensen die niet zondermeer slikken wat veel van die vervelende zich overal mee bemoeiende zogenaamde hogere baasjes de rest van de wereld menen op te moeten leggen. Een GOED IDEE gezocht!
DÉ HIFIWINKEL heeft een voorraad van duizenden tijdschriften van Hifi News,
Stereophile, The Absolute Sound, Ultimate Audio, The Sensible Sound. De
bedoeling was deze een keer te bundelen, plastificeren en voor een habbekrats
aan te bieden aan de "geïnteresseerde hifi-consument". Door de
gevolgen van de brand in Tilburg hebben wij dringend behoefte aan
magazijnruimte en onze eerste gedachte was die tijdschriften met de
oud-papierboer mee te geven. We beseften echter dat er mogelijkerwijs nogal wat
mensen zijn die blij gemaakt kunnen worden met een collectie van deze
tijdschriften.
Als alternatief hebben wij deze hele voorraad van duizenden tijdschriften
GRATIS aangeboden aan de Organisatie van de jaarlijkse Neerlandse Hifi-Show. De
bedoeling was deze tijdschriften tijdens de komende Hifi-Show ongelimiteerd
GRATIS aan te bieden aan bezoekers onder vermelding "GRATIS AANGEBODEN
DOOR DÉ HIFIWINKEL". Helaas is op ons aanbod negatief gereageerd, dus we
zitten nog steeds met duizenden tijdschriften, waarvan we het nog steeds zonde
vinden om die weg te gooien. Dus ....
We zoeken een goed idee om zonder verdere kosten, zonder veel
tijdverlies die tijdschriften toch gratis bij U, de geïnteresseerde
consument, te laten komen. Dus heeft U een goed idee, stuur ons
dan zsm een email.

Geveld door het griepvirus, maar sinds gisteren wel weer voorzien van alle computer accessoires, kan ik de eerste plaatjes van het binnenwerk van de AH! Tjoeb 66 (Tjamp) laten zien. De geluidskwaliteit kan ik U hiermee niet laten horen, maar het grote aantal sessies op een dito aantal luidsprekers was voor de diverse toehoorders reden om ons te complimenteren met een mooi stukje "audiodesignontwerpwerk".

Donderdag 16 augustus 2001 - 01.00
Naar aanleiding van de brandschade in Tilburg komen er diverse vragen op ons af. "Gaat The Hifishop nog open?" Ja, The Hifishop gaat weer open. Een en ander is afhankelijk van de levertijd van de nieuwe inrichting én van het moment waarop de buren -waar de brand uiteindelijk heeft gewoed- actie gaan ondernemen om het pand te (laten) ontruimen en reinigen. De stank die er momenteel nog hangt, is vooral voor de bewoners boven deze winkel, een voortdurende bron van ergernis. "Kunnen jullie nog wel doorgaan met het AH! Project?" Absoluut! Van de AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 worden er nu 125 per week gemaakt. De AH! Tjoeb 66 is definitief "goedgekeurd" om in produktie te gaan. Er is een groot aantal artikelen toegevoegd aan het AH! programma en er volgen er nog meer. "Gaan jullie nog wel door met het PrPrProject?" Ja, we gaan zeker door met het PrPrProject. Ik denk, onszelf kennende, met een nog groter fanatisme! Omdat het project de komende 2 weken, vanwege vakantie, stilligt, heb ik de beschikking over de laatste print die gemaakt is. Deze print heb ik bij gebrek aan het kabeltje van onze digitale camera, op de A4 scanner gelegd en ik denk dat ook daarmee een duidelijke indruk gegeven kan worden van onze vorderingen.

Ok, en wat zien we hier dan eigenlijk? Toen we door omstandigheden min of meer gedwongen het PrPrProject gestart zijn, is meteen gesteld dat het behalve een klankmatige eredivisie-speler ook een "smart" design moest zijn. Met "smart" bedoelen we een ontwerp dat maximaal voorbereid is om zo lang mogelijk efficient te kunnen produceren. De print die U hierboven ziet is een print voor 6 verschillende modellen geïntegreerde versterkers. We kunnen hiermee namelijk 3 verschillende vermogensversterkers maken en we (en dus ook de toekomstige eigenaar) hebben per model ook nog de keuze voor het gebruik van een "buisje" of een "fet". Wat verder opvalt is het ontbreken van bedrading (de enige bedrading wordt de binnenkomende netspanning en de secundaire uitgangen van de trafo('s). Aan boord bevindt zich standaard al een "offsetkiller". Verder beschikt het ontwerp nog over een aantal features, die we om begrijpelijke redenen, pas bij de introductie willen melden. het zal duidelijk zijn dat we dit project als zeer serieus beschouwen. Dat doen ook een aantal importeurs / distributeurs, die ongeduldig wachten op de eerste exemplaren om hun "revanche" te nemen.

Ondanks het enorme tijdgebrek ontstaan door de
brandschade in Tilburg, toch een snelle informatie, ingegeven door -gelukkig
slechts- één beller, die vroeg of hij op de een of andere manier voordeel kon
behalen uit de restanten van de voorraad. Wel, helaas voor hem (hoewel), maar
nog meer voor ons, kan ik meedelen dat ALLE goederen door het vrijgekomen
allesverwoestende HCL (Chloorgas) onbruikbaar geworden zijn.
We zullen proberen de verzekeringsmaatschappij ervan te weerhouden om de
overgebleven goederen (waar vaak niets aan te ZIEN is) via via in de handel te
brengen. Ze zijn echt onbruikbaar en NIET REPAREERBAAR. Mocht er hoe dan ook
toch iets van in de "handel" komen dan zal er nooit of te nimmer
enige garantie-aanspraak gemaakt kunnen worden en zal er nooit of te nimmer
enige reparatie mogelijk zijn. Dus: OGEN EN OREN OPEN en laat U niet bij de
neus nemen!
Houdt het dan ooit op? zei ik bij het vorige nieuwsbericht? Neen, nog niet. Gisteren werden we nog verrast met de uitspraak van een klant met geldelijke problemen, die probeerde duidelijk te maken dat het ONZE schuld was dat hij NU geen geld meer had. Hadden we maar geen krediet moeten geven! Tsja, het resultaat? ALLE transacties voortaan CONTANT of bij VOORUITBETALING. Jammer, dat het zo strikt moet, maar het is niet anders. What's next?
Donderdag 9 augustus 2001 - 18.30
In de nacht van zondag 5 augustus 2001 op maandag 6 augustus 2001 heeft in het winkelcentrum Koningsplein te Tilburg een brand plaatsgevonden in het pand naast The Hifishop. Door nalatigheid van betrokken instanties zijn wij daar niet tijdig (c.q. nog steeds niet!!) van op de hoogte gebracht. Omliggende panden, waaronder ook The Hifishop, zijn allen "doordrenkt" geweest van rook, roet en vrijgekomen chloorgassen. Gevolg is dat de complete inventaris en goederenvoorraad onbruikbaar is geworden. Momenteel worden de diverse winkels in het winkelcentrum ontruimd. Daarna zullen betrokken winkels volledig worden gereinigd en bezien zal worden welke stappen genomen dienen te worden om normale bedrijfsvoering weer mogelijk te maken. Indien U The Hifishop de komende weken telefonisch niet kunt bereiken, kunt U contact opnemen met een van de andere winkels. Om met de woorden van een bezoekende klant te spreken "Houdt het dan nooit op?" We weten het niet. Voorlopig gaan we door tot "het gaatje!"

Bewogen vakantiedagen! Herman Brood, Nederland's troeteljunkie
ziet het niet meer zitten en laat ons bewust de wereld na. Harvey Rosenberg
doet, onbewust en onvrijwillig, hetzelfde. Weer 2 mannetjes minder die
dagelijks tegen de bestaande (wan)orde aanschoppen. Jammer. Ook het nieuws dat
Peter, klant van Rob Wilms te Beek, op (te) jonge leeftijd overleden is, stemt
tot nadenken.
Vanuit Nederland bericht ontvangen dat de eerste Pr..pr..protoprinten binnen
zijn en verder bewerkt kunnen worden. We zijn goed op weg naar de finale
afwerking van de AH! Tjoeb 66 print. Dat geldt ook voor de Pr..pr..pr software
om de bediening aan te sturen.
Koos B. van The Hifishop heeft vandaag (zaterdag 21 juli 2001) en volgende week
de deur in Tilburg op slot. Wegens DÉ Kermis!
Ferry Kremers heeft donderdag 26 juli na 18.00 uur de deur op slot wegens
viering van zijn 42ste verjaardag. Proficiat. De eerste 3 weken van augustus
doet hij hetzelfde vanwege de jaarlijkse zomervakantie.

Alweer een stukkie verder! Het is Pr..pr..protoprintentijd!
Afgelopen week zijn de files van de eerste 6 Pr..Pr.. ontwerpen naar de
printenfabrikant verzonden. Dat betekent dat we binnen afzienbare tijd de
eerste exemplaren kunnen bouwen! In bewerking is momenteel de software voor de
bediening en diverse mensen "krassen" flink op papier en op alles wat
we tegenkomen om ook het uiterlijk naar de zin te krijgen. Eerder deze week
hebben we al de files voor de definitieve AH! Tjoeb 66 versterker (door
Marcel onuitputtelijk "The TsjAmp" genoemd) naar de
printenboer gestuurd, dus ondanks de vakantietijd loopt ook dat door. Het AH!
programma wordt uitgebreid met een prachtige reeks plateaus, die in
samenwerking met een goed bekend staande, gespecialiseerde fabrikant ontwikkeld
zijn. Nog meer "AH! pizza-dozen"! Dat herinnert er mij aan dat er
nodig een volledig overzicht van de AH! produkten op de site moet komen. De
vakantie komt eraan, dus eindelijk de gelegenheid (hoop ik) om de site (en mijn
tas met onverrichtte werkzaamheden) eens flink aan te pakken!

Het zal mogelijk aan de "vakantie-lucht" liggen, maar we hebben alweer een fotootje voor U. "Onze" Paul heeft na een maand of ?? zijn fotorolletjes eens laten ontwikkelen en wat kwam er te voorschijn? Een foto die we eens ooit gemaakt hebben om mee te doen aan een Marantz fotowedstrijd voor Marantz dealers. We hebben natuurlijk nooit iets gewonnen, omdat we de foto nooit op tijd in hebben kunnen sturen, maar in het kader van de "nostalgie" (toen kochten we de cd-spelers nog per 100 of zo, terwijl we daar nu al een nulletje achter mogen plakken!) hier toch nog het plaatje. Misschien later deze week een plaatje van een actueler (en dus groter) stapeltje:

Enige tijd geleden beloofde ik U een foto van een "straatje Primare". Door de "Primare-Perikelen" spelen de contacten tussen ons en Primare zich af via wederzijdse advocaten. Aanvulling van onze voorraad Primare geschiedt natuurlijk daardoor ook buiten Primare om. Gelukkig zijn er nog meer Primare distributeurs die zich niet kunnen vinden in het onprofessionele gedrag van de firma Primare en zijn graag bereid ons te beleveren. Vandaar dat we enkele weken geleden het bijgaande plaatje schoten:
De onwikkeling van de eerste Pr..Pr.. produkten
(tsja, Primare wil niet dat we Première produkten gaan maken, dus dan
maar "pr..pr..") gaat inmiddels rustig maar gestaag door. Bij de
première van ons nieuwe merk willen we meteen al 6 produkten kunnen
introduceren. Dat lijkt veel (en dat is het ook best wel), maar we denken met
wat slimmigheidjesi op de proppen te kunnen komen, die het minder
ingewikkeld maken dan het is.
Benoemde Ken Kessler al eerder de Sonus Faber Gravis subwoofer tot de beste in
zijn klasse, inmiddels is ook bekend dat de Sonus Faber Gravis uitgeroepen is
tot "Product of the Year 2001"!

Ik begrijp, dat U het niet verwacht, maar misschien toch wel gehoopt had: het lokale nieuws van Beek is geplaatst. Hier klikken is de simpelste weg om daar te geraken. Denkt U eraan dat DÉ HIFIWINKEL BEEK de komende 2 weken wegens vakantie gesloten is? Rob, van hieruit een prettige vakantie!
Zondag 17 juni 2001 - 16.00
De afgelopen dagen (t/m vandaag) vond weer de jaarlijkse High End Show
in Frankfurt plaats. Voor mij altijd DE gelegenheid om tenminste 1 x per jaar
met genoegen een autoritje te maken. Mits op het juiste tijdstip vertrokken,
tenminste 1 dag geen files, geen angstig achter bosjes en paaltjes naar vale
politiekleppen met een kodak-kado-in-de-aanslag kijkend. Kortom veelal een
ontspannen auto-ritje (zeker als de zon schijnt als ie deze week deed), waarbij
opvalt dat je eigenlijk de 140km/uur nauwelijks overschrijdt. Daar een
genoegen, hier een faillissement!
Wat men verder ook van Duitsland moge vinden, het is nog een van de weinige
"ambiante" hifi-shows die men in Europa kan ontdekken. Misschien wel
omdat men voorbij gaat aan de onlosmakelijk aan deze branche verbonden
"kinnesinne" en "vriend & vijand" op een gewone
zakelijke manier naast elkaar in de kamers perst! Laat dat maar aan die
Duitsers over! Als je in de wandelgangen goed (toe)luistert zijn er nog
voldoende smeuige opmerkingen op te vangen: "Zo, de diefjes van Nederland
zijn er ook weer!", "Nou, jij kunt er ook wel wat van!",
"Hi, how are you?" waarna men nog even de vingers natelt. "Ik ga
toch eens proberen of ik jullie weer vriendjes kan maken!". Kortom genoeg
om een soap over te schrijven (misschien een idee voor hear.nl of hifi.nl??).
Ik zal mij niet wagen aan een totaal-opsomming van mogelijke nieuwigheden. Dat
zal de pers (hopelijk) wel doen. Duidelijk was dat er een nieuwe Krell
importeur voor Duitsland is, die hopelijk de broodnodige rust aldaar kan
bewerkstelligen. De ex-importeur heeft onlangs nog al zijn demo-toestellen via
een van zijn dealers te koop aangeboden. Echter, wie gaat de garantie geven?
Hopelijk hoeft U zich niet te vermoeien met het vinden van het antwoord, want
dan bent U te laat. De oude importeur heeft geen zin om
"garantie-reparaties" uit te voeren en stuurt die door naar de nieuwe
importeur. Die heeft daar natuurlijk ook geen zin in, immers hij heeft er
verder niets aan verdiend. Beide importeurs doet wel graag reparaties buiten de
garantie-tijd, maar dat tegen tarieven die alleen voor hen interessant zijn (de
oude importeur krijgt overigens geen originele onderdelen van Krell!). De
garantie op demo-toestellen (niet nieuw dus) bedraagt overigens slechts 6
maanden en is slechts van toepassing in het land van aanschaf. In uiterste nood
kan men het altijd nog eens bij Krell zelf proberen, maar believe me, die
zitten -zeker in zo'n situatie- ver weg! Overigens, heeft Krell toegezegd
voortdurend mee te willen denken om aan de eventuele overlast vanuit Duitsland
-ook voor U als mogelijk toekomstige Krell eigenaar- tegemoet te komen. Dus als
U vragen heeft over wat dan ook betreffende Krell, denk dan niet dat er geen
mogelijkheden zijn, maar PRAAT, BEL of EMAIL met ons.
En er is een nieuwe .......WILSON AUDIO luidspreker. De SOPHIA, een
Watt/Puppy-achtige luidspreker, maar dan tegen een wat vriendelijker prijs.
Wordt na augustus in Europa geïntroduceerd.

En goed nieuws voor Ole Møller van Copland! Deze aller-aardigste Deense

kan nu op eigen kracht -en met full support- van meerdere ex-Primare-vrienden
zelf zijn eigen lijn wereldwijd promoten. De lijn bestaat voorlopig uit:

Nog graag even aandacht voor het feit dat
"onze" Rob Wilms de komende 2 weken op vakantie is en dat Koos
aanstaande dinsdag daar weer terug van is. Rob heeft nog wel wat nieuws uit de pre-historie
(tenminste een deel stamt nog uit de vorige eeuw) bij mij op de internet-plank
liggen en ik heb beloofd dat te zullen plaatsen. Hou dat dus nog even in de
gaten.
Verder ben ik onder invloed van een klanten-aanvraag zo slim geweest om de
houtmonsters van ProAc op de scanner te leggen, zodat U toch enigszins het idee
heeft hoe de geschilde ProAc-bomen eruit zien, als U dat niet in uw
onmiddelijke omgeving kunt aanschouwen. Zie voor het resultaat de pagina ProAc-veneers.

Inderdaad het (lees: ik) moet niet gekker worden! Toen Rob Wilms over de AH! Tjoeb SixtieSix uitriep "Zo wil ik hem meteen hebben", dacht ik dat ie thuis nog een kamertje over had voor een klein supersetje. Dat misschien nog wel, maar zoals hij mij verzekerde, heeft ie absoluut geen tijd voor een 2e installatie! Dus voor de goede orde: Hij wil hem (de AH! Tjoeb SixtieSix) meteen hebben voor de zaak! Nou, daar hebben we dus ook geen enkel bezwaar tegen!

Het moet niet gekker worden! Toen een aantal
jaren geleden het alom bekende bedrijf QUAD overgenomen werd door het
moederbedrijf van Mission, ging al snel de grap dat er gedurende het eerste
jaar geen Quad elektrostaten beschikbaar zouden zijn voor de verkoop. Immers,
alle Mission medewerkers wilden nu wel eens een goede luidspreker in huis
hebben. Aan dit mopje moest ik denken, toen ik de enthousiaste conclusies van
zowel Rob Wilms als Marcel van Overbeek hoorde na hun aan-de-tand-proeverij van
de "aanstaande" AH! Tjoeb SixtieSix versterker. Onafhankelijk van
elkaar, "bestelden" zij een eerste exemplaar voor eigen gebruik van
deze nieuwe van Duijvenvoorde-nazaat. Produktie-exemplaren zijn -hopelijk!!-
met een maand of 2 te verwachten.
En hoe zit het nou met de ontwikkelingen van jullie Pr...... sssstttt!! lijn?
Nou, eigenlijk best wel goed. We zijn op schema. Dat wil zeggen, dat de
ontwikkeltijd van 1 maand per model (voor de electronica), aardig klopt. Er van
uitgaande dat we in de zomer de eerste "jasjes van de kasjes" klaar
kunnen hebben, kunnen we meteen na de zomer van start. De première mag dus in
september verwacht worden. Als het tegen zit wordt het later en als het meezit,
blijft het september. Overigens bestaat onze eerste mondiale PrPr.... introduktie
uit een reeks van 6 (!) geïntegreerde versterkers. Hoe we dat
klaarspelen? Tsja, dat is nog even het geheim van onze smid. Zit de wereld daar
op te wachten? Ik denk van wel! Wordt vervolgd.
KB mag dan op vakantie zijn, MB (Michiel van den Brekel) heeft de
vrijheid genomen om een aantal AH! AC Direkt KB8 netkabels te
confectioneren voor de meest ongeduldige Tjoeb-bezitters. Volgende week zullen
alle winkels over een beperkt aantal exemplaren beschikken.

And the news is ....... Met name de bezoekers van onze winkel
in Tilburg (The Hifishop) weten dat de netkabels van Electrocompaniet -zeker
voor het geld- verrassend goed presteren. Koos Boshoven heeft dan
ook al heel wat metertjes geconfectioneerd voor zijn klanten en de klanten van
onze andere winkels. Ook voor gebruik op onze AH! Tjoeb cd-spelers. Daarvoor
werd dan vaak een IEC-chassisconnector geïnstalleerd. Een tijdrovend karwei en
.... voor veel mensen een ondoenlijke ingreep. Rechtstreekse vervanging door de
Eectrocompaniet netkabel was niet mogelijk vanwege de doorsnede (10 mm). De
oplossing is simpel. Een iets afgeslankte uitvoering (Ø8mm) en een iets
aangepaste trekontlasting et voilà de AH! AC Direkt KB8 netkabel is
daar! Een kleintje Electrocompaniet dus. De omwisseling met het bestaande
standaard "vliegertouwtje" is een fluitje van een cent. De standaard
lengte bedraagt 150cm; de apparaatzijde bestaat uit 3 draad aansluitingen (Fase
en Min van klembusjes voorzien die zo in de WAGO connector geklemd kunnen worden)
en een aarde-aansluiting (met aangesoldeerd ringetje) die onder het montage
schroefje van de 115/230 voedingstrafo geschroefd kan worden. De andere zijde
is voorzien van een Popp netsteker of een USA hospital-grade netsteker. Kleur
van de kabel is zwart met zilver/wit opdruk (merk, type, richting aanduiding)
en heeft een opvallende soepelheid. De prijs bedraagt Hfl 150,-. Andere lengtes
en constructies zijn op bestelling leverbaar. Voor de zwaardere jongens onder
ons heeft Koos de oorspronkelijke EC versie nu ook in de AH! versie: AH! AC
Direkt KB10.
De prijzen! Zoals dat eerder bepaald is, valt een AH! produkt onder andere op
door een buitengewoon goede prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding. Dat laten we dus zo
en voor een kant-en-klaar geconfectioneerde kabel, betaalt U dus een heel
scherpe prijs! Een compleet overzicht van AH! produkten en prijzen, inclusief
de nieuwe netkabels, is in voorbereiding.
De komende 2 weken is The Hifishop in Tilburg wegens vakantie gesloten.
In alle gevallen kunt U, indien nodig of gewenst, kontakt opnemen met een van de andere winkels. Na terugkomst van Koos, zal Rob
Wilms ons 2 weken wegens vakantie verlaten. DÉ HIFIWINKEL te
Beek-Ubbergen is dan ook de laatste 2 weken van juni gesloten en natuurlijk
kunnen klanten uit die omgeving, indien nodig of gewenst, kontakt opnemen met
een van de andere winkels.

Enkele weken geleden werd ik 's-avonds rond 23.00 uur gebeld door een Primare importeur die -nog- Primare importeur is in een van de andere Europese landen, en hij vertelde me dat hij bijna zeker wist "dat ik het was!" Ik begreep niet waar hij het over had. Toen hij het uitgelegd had, kon ik het wel begrijpen. De website van Primare was gekraakt en voorzien van de tekst "F**K THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT!". Helaas moet ik bekennen dat ik het hacken niet beheers, anders zou het inderdaad wel eens zo kunnen zijn, dat ik mij periodiek aan dit wapen vergreep. Maar goed. Vannacht was het weer zover. Primare website weer gekraakt. Schijnt een bezigheid te zijn van Amerikaanse en Chinese hackers. En ik maar denken dat Primare zo'n goede Chinese relaties had .... Oh ja. Welkom in Nederland L.P.
De eerste 3 Pr..Pr.. ontwerpen zijn al een heel eind op weg richting
eindprodukt. Onze verwachtingen zijn heel, heel hoog gespannen en we kunnen
niet wachten om de (audio)trom te roeren in Nederland en daarbuiten.
De eerste 2 weken van juni is THE HIFISHOP in Tilburg wegens vakantie gesloten.
Kan Koos mooi uitrusten om meteen na terugkomst de eerste Tjoeb netsnoeren af
te leveren. Prettige vakantie Koos!

Op de valreep! Vandaag -Hemelvaartsdag- zijn alle winkels natuurlijk dicht geweest. Morgen en overmorgen zijn de winkels gewoon open, behalve DÉ HIFISTUDIO. DÉ HIFISTUDIO te Weerdinge is ook vrijdag en zaterdag gesloten! Waarvan akte.
A Njoe Tjoeb in Njoe York! Op de onlangs gehouden HifiShow in New York had onze AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 een prominente plaats in een van de kamers van AudioReview. Die plaats was gegeven vanwege het feit dat de AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 een van de populairste producten van de AudioReview site is.

Ondanks het prachtige weer toch nog even wat dingen aan de site veranderd. Onder andere de "netsporen"-pagina is zo aangepast dat U direct doorgeschakeld wordt naar de pagina's waar "collega-consumenten" hun ervaringen met U willen delen.

Zet die "dingen" nou eens op het internet! Ok, daar komen ze dan. De externe AH! OffsetKillers nieuwe stijl, zoals wij die alweer 6 maanden leveren in onze winkels. We hebben 3 modellen (met de USA-versie erbij eigenlijk 4) die alle 3 dezelfde offsetkiller schakeling gebruiken. Prijzen: Hfl 450,- (voor de enkelvoudige uitvoering), Hfl 550,- (voor de 4-voudige uitvoering) en Hfl 650,- voor de 6-voudige uitvoering). De AH! OffsetKiller maakt in de meeste gevallen brommende ringkerntransformatoren stil, beschermt tegen (te) hoge voedingsspanningen en pieken, filtert de ingaande netspanning en voorkomt dat uw apparatuur het openbare net vervuilt. Werkt (vanzelfsprekend) op geluidsinstallaties, maar ook op TV's (strakker, dieper, rustiger beeld) en op computers (bescherming en betere/snellere modemverbindingen -althans bij mij-).

Zoals eerder op deze site aangekondigd, is deze
week DÉ HIFIWINKEL te Eindhoven gesloten. Dat betekent dat Marcel-1 dus echt
afwezig is vanwege vakantie, de technische dienst gedeeltelijk aanwezig
is voor de service-werkzaamheden en begeleiding van nieuwe AH! en andere
ontwerpen, Marcel-2 deze laatste 2 weken van de maand mei benut om thuis
de laatste hand te leggen aan de eerste 3 (geïntegreerde versterkers) van
Première, Herman overal en nergens dingen afwerk die zijn blijven liggen,
Michiel probeert op lokatie enige Njoe Tjoeb voorraad op te bouwen om de
zomertijd door te komen, etc. etc. We doen ons best om toch de telefoon op te
nemen, reparaties en zendingen (aan de achterzijde van het gebouw) te ontvangen
en -op afspraak- spullen op te laten halen..

Verder aandacht voor de volgende Hifiwinkel Eindhoven vakantie-informatie
Komende week (dus van dinsdag 8 mei t/m zaterdag 12 mei) is Marcel afwezig
wegens vakantie. Tijdens deze week daarom alleen door hem geplande demo's op
afspraak. De week daarop (van dinsdag 15 mei t/m zaterdag 19 mei) is DÉ
HIFIWINKEL EINDHOVEN volledig gesloten. In deze vakantie-periode kunt U
natuurlijk wel telefonisch contact opnemen met onze
andere vestigingen.
Tjoeb en Njoe Tjoeb liefhebbers opgelet. We hebben een beperkt aantal Amperex
7308 Premium Quality buizen in huis! Marcel voelt ze momenteel aan de tand
en heeft al aangegeven dat het "bijzondere" zijn. Wel heeft hij het
idee dat er een redelijk lange inspeeltijd nodig is.

Wij hopen dat U Prettige Paasdagen doormaakt en
zich niet teveel laat ontmoedigen door het weer dat meer op dat van de
Kerstdagen lijkt. Verder is het vandaag ook nog eens de verjaardag van Marcel!
Proficiat, alweer een die de "twenties" achter zich laat. De PREMIÈRE pagina is een beetje bijgewerkt en we
moeten nog steeds concluderen dat het in Zweden "ijzig" stil is.
Dinsdag a.s., door ons al omgedoopt tot 3e Paasdag, is de winkel in Eindhoven gesloten!

Ja, het is nog steeds onze bedoeling om een lijn als Primare / Audiolab etc te maken. En er wordt hard aan gewerkt! Op de PREMIÈRE pagina zullen we vannacht nog enige informatie plaatsen omtrent de vorderingen. Iemand uit den lande vroeg of we serieus dachten van PREMIÈRE net zoiets bekends te kunnen maken als KISEKI, COGELCO, AH1 TJOEB etc. Toen we dat beaamden, trok hij een link met STARMAKERS. OK, daar kunnen we ons in vinden. Ook in het feit dat er in beide shows afvallers zullen zijn. Maar van een ding zijn we overtuigd: in onze "PRIMARE wordt PR-PR-PR" show willen wij met ONS NIEUWE "P"-MERK de winnaar zijn. We trekken alle registers open!! Let ook op de afvallers! Wordt vervolgd.

Beloofd is beloofd! Hier gaat ie dus. Niet alleen
Engeland heeft zijn K. Kessler. Ook Nederland. Jaren geleden werden we al
verrast door een klant met de naam K. Kessler. We dachten aanvakelijk zelfs dat
het een "grappenmaker" was, die onder die naam informatie aan vroeg.
Niets is minder waar. K. Kessler is een tevreden Nederlandse eigenaar van een
Krell KAV-300i, die mometeel naarstig op zoek is naar "veranderingen"
op onze website. Vandaar deze aktie.
Eerder deze maand heb ik al enige veranderingen aangebracht op onze site. Via
"de merken" komt U nu bij de websites van de fabrikanten zelf
terecht. Het is echt ondoenlijk om zelf een aangepaste Nederlandse versie voor
elk merk te maken. Vandaar.
We zijndruk doende de laatste hand te leggen aan een "Tjoeb"-versie
van een Marantz versterker. We houden U zeker op de hoogte van onze
vorderingen!
What else? De opvolger van de befaamde Krell KAV-300i/l is daar! Bloedmooi
"ogend" en "bloedstollend" klinkend. Reed te beluisteren en
te bekijken in onze winkels in Beek-Ubbergen, Eindhoven, Tilburg en Weerdinge.

In Eindhoven hebben we tevens de eerste
luidspreker van Krell staan, de LAT-1. Geen verder commentaar nodig ....
In in onze winkels in Beek-Ubbergen, Eindhoven en Weerdinge hebben we nu ook
het topmodel van Vienna Acoustics, de MAHLER, staan. Wat een elegante, muzikale
feest-luidspreker! Elke demo die we doen voor onze klanten is een feest! En de
prijs van Hfl 15.000,- per paar, mag, in vergelijk met alle andere
luidsprekers, een regelrechte sensatie genoemd worden!
En het laatste nieuws? Wel, dat mag met recht WERELDNIEUWS genoemd worden. Het
zal eenieder die de hifiwereld al een aantal jaren een beetje volgt, wel eens
opgevallen zijn dat een merk zich als volgt ontwikkelt: een of meer personen
komen met een idee of produkt, dat wordt met behulp van een groep distributeurs
wereldwijd bekend gemaakt, de fabrikant groeit, capaciteit wordt uitgebreid
etc. Bij een dipje in de wereldvraag heeft men plotseling
"overcapaciteit" en moet er dus een wapen gevonden worden om het
aanwezige personeel bezig te houden en het overschot aan produkten kwijt te
raken. Wel, dan zijn er altijd wel bedrijfjes en mensen in de markt die
"in dank" na de initiële inspanningen een merk "gratis" in
distributie overnemen. Ook in Nederland zijn we behept met een firma, die met
name op die manier, veel high-end fabrikantjes die al in Nederland
vertegenwoordig zijn, afstruinen. Het trieste is, dat men dat nog vaak met
succes doet ook. Nou, daar moet maar eens een tegenantwoord op komen. Reden
waarom wij U op de hoogte gaan houden van ons "P"-project:

Meerdere mensen hebben ons gecontacteerd aangaande
de diefstal van de Krell KPS25c - serienummer 13099030018. Daaruit is
gebleken dat dit allerminst een op zichzelf staand geval is. In het hele land
hebben winkeliers uit onze branche dezelfde ervaring op mogen doen. Helaas is
dat slechts een schrale troost. Onder andere cd-spelers, versterkers (wat denkt
U van een zware McIntosh versterker??), videoprojectoren wisselden zo van
eigenaar (als we dat woord in dit verband mogen gebruiken). De nasmaak is
bitter als je daarnaast bedenkt dat -tenminste in ons geval- bij de politie
niemand op het idee is gekomen om middels fotoconfrontatie en
getuigenbeschrijving te achterhalen in welke hoek de verdachten gezocht moeten
worden. In Driebergen/Rijsenburg gebeurde dat tenminste wel. Daar werden
tenminste 5 personen aangehouden die pasten in het door ons beschreven
scenario.
Morgen, 20 maart 2001, is Rob Wilms weer terug van zijn hopelijk geslaagde
vakantie.
Dinsdag, 27 maart 2001, zal DÉ HIFIWINKEL EINDHOVEN de gehele dag
gesloten zijn. Woensdag 28 maart staan wij weer voor U klaar.

We balen nog steeds stevig van de hieronder
beschreven diefstal van de Krell KPS25c - serienummer 13099030018, maar
zitten niet bij de pakken neer! Laten we het erop houden dat het ons
agressiever en fanatieker maakt. Ook om ons werk goed te kunnen doen. We zullen
zowel op kortere als langere termijn zeker veranderingen door gaan voeren om
ons aan te passen aan "de tijd". Nu banken, benzinestations,
juweliers verworden zijn tot onneembare vestingen, zullen wij als detailhandel
nog meer zorg moeten gaan dragen voor een grotere bescherming van onszelf, ons
personeel, onze goederen en onze welwillende klanten. Jammer, maar het is niet
anders. Hoe het een en ander vorm gaat krijgen laten wij U zo spoedig mogelijk
weten. Er is een beloning beschikbaar voor:
1. het terugbezorgen voor het apparaat
2. informatie die leidt tot het terugbezorgen van het apparaat
3. informatie over identiteit en adresgegevens van de daders en/of
opdrachtgever

Elke andere suggestie om een bevredigend antwoord te hebben op dit soort
ongewenste acties van ongewenste bezoekers is meer dan van harte welkom.

OPSPORING VERZOCHT! Mag ik uw aandacht voor het volgende? Er is een Krell cd-speler KPS25sc ontvreemd (winkelwaarde Hfl 75.000,-) met het serienummer 13099030018. Is er een beloning? JA, er is een beloning! Een beloning voor het terugbezorgen voor het apparaat en/of voor informatie die leidt tot het terugbezorgen van het apparaat. Er is ook een beloning voor informatie over de daders en/of opdrachtgever. De daders -een slecht Nederlands sprekend gezin/gezelschap, bestaande uit man (50-60 jaar), vrouw (45-50 jaar), jongen en meisje (van ongeveer 10-13 jaar)- rijdend in een blauwe personenauto Mercedes 190. De vrouw is dusdanig gezet dat -met behulp van draagbanden- onopvallend apparatuur meegenomen kan worden. De afkomst van deze lieden mag ik als domme Nederlander die wel de wet moet volgen aan U helaas niet nader noemen, maar een goed lezer heeft aan deze beschrijving genoeg (extra kenmerken: scharenslijpers; gillende, op grond kronkelende vrouwen etc.). Komt het een en ander U bekend voor of heeft U informatie over bovenstaand apparaat, neemt U dan kontakt met ons op. To be or not to be (1) Zitten wij al stiekum een week vooruit te dromen over een week Narbonne aan de Middelllandse Zee (een beetje zonniger computeren dan hier), horen we net dat Charles Trenet (geboren in Narbonne) op 87-jarige leeftijd aan een hersen-infarct overleden is. Een van de meest succesvolle en messt productieve chansonniers is niet meer. Tik op een van de vele zoekmachines 'trenet' in en U heeft dagen leesvoer over dit bij leven al legendarische wonderkind!

Inmiddels is het weer eventjes geleden dat de
site wat nieuws heeft mogen melden. CES 2001 in Las Vegas was nog wel zo'n
goede voedingsbodem voor al dat hifi-nieuws, hifi-geruchten, hifi-geroddel,
hifi-geruzie en ga zo maar door (je zou de nieuw produkten bijna vergeten, maar
die vindt U wel in de reguliere pers). De opmerkelijkste was dat Classe Audio
bekend maakte alle banden te verbreken met bestaande Classe importeurs en dat
wereldwijd de B&W distributeurs die taak zullen overnemen. Dat nieuws was
meteen reden voor Champagne & Gebak voor in ieder geval een voormalige
Classe importeur, die vorig jaar op de inmiddels "bekende"
achterbakse manier van Nederlands meest ............. (vul maar in wat in U
opkomt) hifi-duo pootje gelicht werd. Minimaal 4 door ons vertegenwoordigde
fabrikanten werden door hetzelfde duo met een bezoek vereerd. Niets simpeler
toch dan na het gedane werk aan de deur te kloppen? Na de Heren van
Amstel(dam?) sprak men in Las Vegas al over de H..... van H........! Blijft U
invullen?
Carnaval komt er weer aan! Dat betekent dat DÉ HIFIWINKEL in Eindhoven op
dinsdag de gehele dag gesloten is! De andere winkels zijn normaal geopend. En
Marcel is die dag in Beek bij Nijmegen met Watt/Puppy's aan het stoeien.
De week na de Carnavalsweek gaat Rob er een weekje tussenuit. Dus noteer: DÉ
HIFIWINKEL BEEK (bij Nijmegen) is van 12 t/m 18 maart wegens vakantie van Rob
Wilms gesloten!! Overigens heeft Rob (en Marcel en Koos en Ferry ook) onlangs
nog de tijd gevonden om wat van zijn hifi-gedachten aan het papier toe te
vertrouwen. Nu moet ik nog de tijd vinden om het op de website te zetten. In de
Carnavalsweek dan maar? Hou het in de gaten zou ik zeggen. Prettige Carnaval of
Crocusvakantie.
Alfred de Theye heeft zijn Crocusvakantie er al opzitten! Hij wist het te
presteren om tijdens zijn wintersportweek aanvankelijk nogal passief te zijn
met de skies en actief te zijn (onder andere zonder skies) in de sauna! Tsja,
als het buikje zwaarder wordt, kan de rug het niet meer tillen!

Vlak voor het Kerstmaal nog even een "ijdel" bericht dat getuigt van Nationale Trots: Op de laatste pagina van Stereophile wijdt Jonathan Scull aandacht aan "tuning-tips". Ook onze AH! Tjoeb '99 wordt daar genoemd. Dat vinden we dus grensoverschrijdend leuk. Voor veel mensen geldt dat wat je ver haalt lekker is, wel voor ons geldt bijna nog meer dat wat je ver weg mag brengen, nog lekkerder is ... De kenner zal zien dat de componentenkeuze zich kan meten met die van de ere-divisie merken uit de internationale audio-competitie. Het is zelfs zo dat momenteel in de demo-ruimte van Wilson Audio USA een AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 zijn ere-rondjes staat te draaien ..... Zijn we trots? Jazeker!

Een beetje geslaagde dealer, ook uit België, moet er af en toe eens tussen uit. Zo ook Patrick uit Brussel. Als U goed kijkt ziet U hem hieronder mogelijk ergens liggen tussen "blond en bruin" (mocht ie willen!). Patirck en Ingrid (ja, ja die neemt Patrick mee naar Cuba) bedankt voor de kaart. PRODUCTS' silver wired unipivot tonearm I had bought recently. A really
beautiful arm! I understand that Trevor imported these arms from you in the
1980s. I have attached a couple of photos of the tonearm, and I must apologize
if they took a little while to download. Unfortunately, there is no information
on the web about your tonearm. Is it possible to obtain a copy or photocopy of
the manual? Or perhaps just some basic information:
-the model number
-overhang
-recommended cartridges (MM or MC)
-recommended viscosity/quantity of lubricant for silicon bath
-does the cable detach from the arm pillar?
-did the arm come originally with a finger lift on the headshell?, or was there
never a finger lift? (the arm I have does not have one)
-anything else of interest...

It's a
long time ago that we (John van der Voort, Paul Schippers and me) were making
this arm. We had a good time with it. Let me first of all add here the photos I

Our Audiophile Products tone-arm was based on at that
time famous George Hadcock tone-arm. George was a real English guy. I mean that
he was very friendly, very disorganized and because of that very difficult to
work with. The product he made was so hobbyistic that it was causing lots of
problems. Nothing really fitted, nothing really worked out of the box. Rumour
was that George was working as a technician for an airway company. The standard
joke was to find out which one, so we could avoid taking flights with this
company ... Also it was said that George could not be reached around
dinner-time as by that time he was walking with his ..... goat! When we heard
that George was having a divorce (which we simply could not imagine!), we could
no longer believe he was away to walk with his ... goat. To make a long story
short: We decided to give it a try and to make a better product. At the same
time Eddie Driessen started to do this (and Eddie still makes his arms and
turntables!!!).
Of the actual re-designing and production of proto-types and small series I do
not remember too much. I remember that the most difficult part was to find
working lifts. In the end we decided to make them ourvelves too. From Eddie
Driessen we bought the central bearing pin as he was able to superpolish these.
One of our prototypes used a wooden shaft. In the center of this wooden shaft
we had a 1mm round aluminium tube. This made it possible to shield the very
thin silverwires we were buying from Mr. Kondo (yes, AudioNote Japan). Eddie asked
once how we could get a 1 mm hole in a shaft of about 30 cms. We joked that we
were using a 30cm long drill of 1mm ...... In fact we used layers of balsawood
that we glued together and in the center we had that 1 mm round aluminium tube.
After the glue was dry we installed the 1 mm tube (with the balsawood around
it) in a small lathe and made a nice round wooden shaft of it (with the 1mm
round aluminium tube in the center!).
I though it was nice to show what was happening 20 years ago. If there are any
other users of our AP tone-arm or maybe even the GH228 (I believe) Hadcock arm,
they can contact Mr. Ralph Humphries ( rmhum1@student.monash.edu.aus ).

Na een inspannende periode van 9 maanden
ontwerpen, bouwen, luisteren, herbouwen, proberen etc. etc. kunnen we meedelen
dat de opvolger van de AH! Tjoeb 99 klaar is om in produktie te worden
genomen. De nieuwe Tjoeb cd-speler is gebaseerd op het nieuwe basismodel van
Marantz, de CD-4000. De nieuweling zal door het leven gaan als AH! NjoeTjoeb
4000. Momenteel draaien er in Amerika en BeNeLux reeds een 10-tal van deze
cd-spelers en blijkens de eerste enthousiaste reacties, tot volle tevredenheid.
De komende weken zal geleidelijk aan meer informatie en beeldmateriaal
vrijgegeven worden.
Min of meer tegelijkertijd heeft ook de nieuwe generatie AH! OffsetKillers
het licht gezien. De externe versie is nu standaard leverbaar in een enkele USA
en EURO uitvoering. De EURO uitvoering is ook leverbaar als 4- en 6-gaats slof.
De komende weken ook hierover meer informatie en plaatjes op deze site.

Nieuws? Ja, Hifi News. En wel allereerst de Hifi News Show in Londen die afgelopen maand plaatsvond en daarnaast de bekendmaking aldaar van de produkten die een Hifi News Award mochten ontvangen. In diverse rubrieken kwamen "onze" produkten als winnaar uit de strijd. Zoals daar zijn: Krell KRC-3, Krell KAV-250a, Theta Dreadnaught en last but not least het Wilson System 6 luidsprekersyteem dat eervol de titel "Best High End Product of the Year" mee naar huis mocht nemen! Voor de "surfers" die te ver van een van onze winkels af wonen om een gratis exemplaar van Hifi News op te halen volgen hieronder enkele plaatjes:
En was dit alles? Welnee! Zowel ik, Herman dus,
als Marcel bezochten deze Hifi News Show in London. En wel (zeer) afzonderlijk!
Toen ik weer op weg was naar huis belde ik mobiel met Marcel en die bleek
toevallig enkele meters onder mij in "The Underground" te zitten!!
Zowel zijn als mijn bezoek leverde enige sappige momenten op en die worden zo
spoedig mogelijk aan U via deze rubriek toevertrouwd.

Nou, niet alleen Marcel is snel! Ook Rob heeft met een turbo-fax laten weten dat hij nog steeds van de partij is. Volgens hem dreigen 3 van zijn ingeleverde en geplaatste stukken in de wirwar van het web te verdwijnen. Waarom? Wel, omdat er alleen een verwijzing op deze nieuwspagina is geweest. Dus dat maken we goed. Vanaf hier kunt U (weer!) klikken naar enkele niet te versmaden bijdragen van de weledele heer Rob Wilms! Theta Dreadnaught, Wilson Watt/Puppy 6 en een van zijn muzikale voorkeuren. Ik zal ervoor zorg dragen dat deze stukjes proza ook via de andere keuzemenus te vinden zijn.

Snel, sneller,
snelst. Dat gold het afgelopen weekend (helaas) niet voor Jos the Boss, maar
Marc(n)el sloeg in de week ervoor geen slecht figuur door na zijn nachtelijke
thuiskomst nog eens heel enthousiast uit de hoek te komen met een beschrijving
van de nieuwe Primare dvd-speler. Omdat deze speler voorzien is van een
speciaal circuit voor cd-weergave en een speciaal circuit voor dvd-weergave
waren er 2 belangrijke vragen te beantwoorden. Hoe doet ie het als cd-speler en
hoe als dvd-speler? Wel, kijk/klik eens hier!
En, zoals beloofd, hierbij de aankondiging dat de WALL luidsprekers in beperkte
aantallen naar ons onderweg zijn en volgende week dus (beperkt) leverbaar
zullen zijn.
Heeft U de beweging op onze TRANSFAIR sectie gezien? Diverse uitloopmodellen,
inruilers, demo's staan te lonken naar een ieder die voorbij komt.
Mogelijkerwijs -mede gezien de gevolgen van de "Euro-politie(k)"-

Ook het thuisfront lijkt eindelijk iets zonniger te worden. Dus het zal mij niet verbazen als er minder gekeken wordt naar de ontwikkeling van onze site. Voor de thuisblijvers nu en voor de thuiskomers later, alvast de mededeling dat een 2e versie van de Sonus Faber Site geplaatst is en via de volgende link bereikbaar is: SonusFaber_2. De niet geplande "horizontale" landing op de duikplank heeft dorsaal meer ongenoegen veroorzaakt dan het zich aanvankelijk aan liet zien. Voordeel is wel dat er weinig anders overblijft dan achter het toetsenbord iets "zinnigs" te doen. Gezien de huidige belangstelling voor de analoge bron heb ik daarom de gegevens van ORACLE in onze site geïntegreerd. Ik hoop dat het U enig lees- en informatieplezier geeft. Mij heeft het in ieder geval -met plezier- 3 vakantiedagen beziggehouden. Via "De merken" en "Oracle" komt U bij het resultaat. Hier klikken mag natuurlijk ook.

Ondanks de verleiding van de warme zon en een -gelukkig kleine- rugbeschadiging opgedaan tijdens een zwembadgevecht, toch nog tijd gevonden wat toe te voegen aan de site. Een eerste foto van onze nieuwe medewerker Michiel van den Brekel is geplaatst en tevens kunt U al wat meer lezen over Marcel van Overbeek in de rubriek "De mensen".

Inmiddels zijn we veilig en wel via Poitiers (Futuroscope: ten zeerste aanbevolen) in onze stek aan de Middellandse Zee gearrriveerd. De communicatie-apparatuur staat weer aangesloten en het werk kan doorgaan, maar dan onder een stralende zon in plaats van in kletterende regenstralen. We kunnen helaas nog niet zo telewerken als de KPN (en wij) het graag zouden willen, maar wellicht volgt dat later nog.
Vrijdag 20 juli 2000 - 11.30
Zieligheid ten top? Burgers wereldwijd opgelet! Onze doorgaans "braaf-rijdende" soldeerrobot is bij verstek veroordeeld tot een boete van HFL 60,- wegens het overschrijden van de lokale snelheid van 50 km met -schrik niet- wel 5 km. Dringt het tot U door? Hij reed wel 55 km!!! Terwijl wij normaalgesproken al blij zijn dat ie VOORUIT rijdt! Het zal (ook) voor hem wel weer wennen zijn om aankomende week de Franse regels met de Nederlandse regels te "mogen" verwisselen. Van "souplesse" naar "stresse". Het is maar te hopen dat hij daar bij het passeren van de Belgisch/Nederlandse grens aan denkt, want achter elke boom, achter elke lantaarnpaal kan een van onze blauwe helden klaar staan om de rest van je verdere dag te verpesten. Wat een baan! Maar U hebt het begrepen: De technische dienst is vanaf volgende week weer present! Ondergetekende is wegens zomerverlof absent, maar alle communicatie-apparatuur wordt aan de Middellandse Zee opgesteld en gebruikt. Ook Ferry is volgende week terug, terwijl Koos wegens draai- en zweefmolengevaar het Koningsplein in Tilburg een week lang niet zal betreden.

Nog niet geschrokken vandaag? Bij "De mensen" is een plaatje van een plaatje van onze Marcel van Overbeek geplaatst. Enjoy! Marcel is dusdanig analoog aanstekelijk, dat er wekelijks enkele draaitafels verkocht worden. Dat varieert van een simpele Thorens of Pro-Jekt tot en met hoogtepunten van Michell en Oracle. Die worden allemaal met zorg door hem op de zaak voorbereid en bij de klant afgeregeld geplaatst. En hij gaat ver! Schrik dus niet als Dr. M. bij U thuis, gewapend met vingercondooms en al, uiterst voorzichtig het geheel tot in de (naald)puntjes afregelt.
Woensdag 19 juli 2000 - 21.30
Hifi-avonturen in de avonduren! Gisteravond hebben we aan de eindeloze reeks avonturen in de avonduren weer een "aparte" toe kunnen voegen. Samen met onze nieuwe medewerker Michiel van den Brekel (foto en informatie binnenkort beschikbaar op deze site) hadden we gisteravond onze auto geladen met een paar Sonus Faber Amatis, een Krell KPS25sc, een paar Sonus Faber Signums en enkele kratjes lege flessen van diverse Belgische biermerken (statiegeld voor onze Patrick in Brussel). Al met al was de wagen dus afgeladen vol kwa volume en gewicht. Daarna snel en route van Eindhoven naar Brussel via (een klein plaatsje bij op het platteland van) Mechelen. In het kader van "kletsen - tijdens - het - rijden - zonder - mobieltje" reden we dus al meteen verkeerd. Dus in plaats van Eindhoven - Antwerpen etc. werd het Eindhoven - Tilburg - Breda - Antwerpen etc. Maar goed, genoeg gespreksstof voorhanden na een dag werken in Eindhoven. De routebeschrijving volgend zaten we al snel in Kampenhout, alwaar we geconfronteerd werden met wegwerkzaamheden. "Toegankelijk voor lokaal verkeer, winkels bereikbaar" stond er aangegeven, dus besloten we als "lokaal verkeer" verder te gaan. Een fraaie uitgegraven weg gevuld met fijnkorrelig grind. Maar hoe meer het einde van de werkzaamheden naderde, hoe dikker de laag grind. Er was geen weg terug. Toen we op de laatste grindberg beland waren, was er helemaal geen weg meer!!! Na wat gas geven etc lag de wagen fraai met de (aangedreven) wielen vrij draaiend op een flinke berg grind. Midden in het centrum en pal voor de plaatstelijk kroeg die beslist lol beleefden aan die domme ..... Ollanders. Gelukkig waren 2 kroeggasten en onze inmiddels mobiel gewaarschuwde klant zo vriendelijk ons met handen, schop, auto, duwkracht etc te helpen weer op (de) weg te komen. Dat lukte, waarmee er een einde kwam aan ons 2-uren durende verblijf op wat in de toekomst de mooiste kruising van Kampenhout gaat worden. Na enige pintjes gedeeld te hebben met onze Mechelse Redders, snel weer op weg naar onze klanten. Michiel, die inmiddels wel begrepen had, dat mijn uitspraak "soms zit het wel eens tegen" meteen de eerste keer al bewaarheid was, sloeg 's-nachts om half 4 (03.30) de lakens over zich heen. Woensdagmorgen 10.00 uur was iedereen weer TIJDIG present voor een nieuw hifi-avontuur!

En dan nog dit: Tilburg kijkt weer uit naar de komst van de grootste kermis van het land. Koos niet. Reden waarom The Hifishop in Tilburg vanwege de Tilburgse Kermis gesloten zal zijn van 25 t/m 29 juli 2000.

De
weersomstandigheden zijn niet van dien aard dat ik die de schuld kan geven van
de hoeveelheid geplaatst nieuws. Om uw komst naar deze pagina toch te
"belonen" uw aandacht voor het volgende:
THE WALL is een nieuw klein luidsprekersysteem van Sonus Faber. Zoals de naam
misschien reeds doet vermoeden, is het een systeem dat door middel van
bijgeleverde beugels aan de wand bevestigd kan worden en met name goede
diensten kan bewijzen als achterluidsprekers in een surround sound installatie.
Maar .... er is meer! We hebben deze luidsprekers eens uitvoerig aan de tand
gevoeld in een normale stereo opzet! Ohlala!! Niet te ver van een achterwand
geplaatst, doen deze kleine mirakels, wonderlijke dingen. Als we over het
reclame-budget van Bose® zouden beschikken, zouden we als
-geluidskwaliteit als maatstaf wordt genomen-, zeker de verkopen van voornoemde
firma kunnen overtreffen. Kortom The Wall is een absolute uitkomst voor
kleinbehuisden, voor kwaliteitsrestaurants waar men ook geluidskwaliteit op het
menu heeft staan, voor stereonuts die de stap naar surroundsound kwalitatief
verantwoord willen maken, voor keuken-, studeerkamer-, slaapkamer-doeleinden
etc. Make your choice.
Over Sonus Faber gesproken: Het laat zich aanzien dat de wachttijden voor de
Guarneri en Amati eventjes iets korter worden. Niet zozeer omdat de vraag
afneemt (integendeel), maar simpelweg omdat we met een collega-distributeur een
deal hebben kunnen maken om de exemplaren die in zijn vakantie-maand bij hem
binnen zouden komen, direct door te sturen naar Nederland!
Een idee waar een aantal mensen misschien baat bij heeft: als U een cd-speler
koopt uit de hogere prijsklasse dan is het wellicht een goed idee om
tegelijkertijd een reserve lasermechanisme aan te schaffen. Ontwikkelingen gaan
vaak zo snel en onverwacht dat het een onaangename verrassing kan zijn als U
bemerkt dat het door U benodigde lasermechanisme niet meer verkrijgbaar is.
DÉ AH! TjoebSjoes zijn binnen! Als we ze deze week ook bij Koos afleveren heeft
iedereen de mogelijkheid ze bij onze winkels op te halen. Ook de manual (in het Engels) is op deze site
geplaatst. Er wordt nog gewerkt aan een manual om van een Tjoeb '99 een
Tjoeb '99 SQ (EsKjoe) te maken.
Op de site is nu -eindelijk- ook wat informatie verschenen over de AH! MM/MC
phonotrapjes die we al geruime tijd tot volle tevredenheid van onze klanten

Om te voorkomen dat U voor een gesloten deur staat nog even een "vakantie-herinnering": DÉ Hifistudio in Weerdinge is wegens vakantie gesloten van 10 t/m 24 juli 2000. Koos in Tilburg (The Hifishop) is overigens weer terug en Rob (DÉ Hifiwinkel in Beek-Ubbergen) loopt op zijn laatste vakantie-pootjes en zal dinsdag a.s. weer van de partij zijn.

Zonder dat ie het zelf weet, geeft Rob eens een andere kant van zichzelf bloot op Hifi Notes. Gezien het weer kan hem dat alleen maar aangenaam zijn. Als ik zie wat die man al aan zweetdruppels op het voorhoofd weet te krijgen bij temperaturen onder 0, moeten deze dagen van boven de 30, een ware marteling voor hem zijn. Maar goed, Rob gaat behalve over apparaten, ook eens wat aandacht schenken aan wat hem aangenaam opvalt op cd en plaat. Rob over muziek Part One.

Na enige keren de broncode van de bovenstaande tekstscroller binnenstebuiten gekeerd te hebben, doet ie wat ie moet doen. Vanzelfsprekend kunt U de voorbijkomende teksten gewoon lezen. Maar U kunt ook op de "links" in die scrollerbox klikken -als ze er in staan natuurlijk-. Denkt U er ook aan dat sommige plaatjes op deze site "aanklikbaar" zijn en een link bevatten naar een andere pagina?

Here we go! Het eerste "teruggevonden" artikel is van de hand van Marcel en gaat over onze toffee-achtige zwarte doosjes (?): de AH! LS Noise Killers. Rest volgt zo spoedig mogelijk. Nijmegen-gangers: denk eraan dat Rob aan zijn zonnige zomerweken is begonnen en vanaf vandaag 2 weken NIET bereikbaar is. Heeft U vragen, bel dan rustig naar Eindhoven: 040 - 211 33 88.

Het
was de bedoeling geweest om hier enige nieuwe artikelen van Marcel, Rob en Koos
aan te melden, maar door mijn computerspecialisme zijn die files dit weekeinde
in lucht opgegaan. Het overzetten van files van desktop naar laptop -ter
voorbereiding van de zomervakantie- is voor mij in ieder geval moeilijker
gebleken dan gedacht. In de loop van de week volgt een nieuwe poging met
assistentie van Paul. Overigens, de files zijn "elders" nog
beschikbaar dus niet voor eeuwig verloren. Wordt dus naar verwachting vervolgd.
De afgelopen weken heeft ook de bekende High-End beurs in Frankfurt weer
plaatsgevonden. Op zich daar geen schokkende zaken, behalve het bericht dat de
show volgend jaar weleens NIET zou kunnen plaatsvinden. Overigens een
verademing om in Duitsland weer eens ouderwets -maar zeker niet onverantwoord
snel- gewoon ontspannen auto te kunnen rijden. Geen plotseling opkomende
hartslag als je ziet dat je 5 kilometer de toegestane snelheid overschrijdt.
Geen angst voor in Hilversum afgekeurde cameramannen, die met flitsgereedschap
langs de weg liggen om landgenoten op de gevoelige plaat vast te leggen.
Heerlijk! En wat een prachtig weer op de handelarendag, waarbij het vooral
opviel dat veel fabrikanten van buiten Duitsland pas na de handelarendag aanwezig
waren. "Hifi" zullen we maar zeggen.
Onze Alfred de Theye, de afgelopen jaren belast met de Monte Q zaken en de
dagelijkse leiding van onze winkel (shop) in Tilburg, heeft per 1 juni 2000 het
"hifi-deel" van zijn werk neergelegd. Hij zal voorlopig in ieder
geval een deel van zijn financiële en organisatorische taak bij ons blijven
vervullen (wel meer op de achtergrond) en daarnaast in de vrijgekomen tijd zich
meer gaan bezighouden met externe financiële zaken.
De Philips E288CC buizen hebben nogal wat teweeggebracht en ondanks alle moeite
die we gedaan hebben, blijkt er nauwelijks in enige hoeveelheid aan te komen.
Een klein aantal hebben we nog kunnen krijgen van een bevriende relatie uit
Nederland, in Amerika hebben we nog enkele Siemens E288CC kunnen bemachtigen
(men claimt dat die nog beter zijn??? Who knows??) en we zijn nog in gesprek
met een Japanse eigenaar die met zichzelf in overleg is over het wel of niet
afstaan van zijn voorraad. Wij wachten geduldig af.

Krell heeft aangekondigd in juni uit te komen met een nieuwe cd-speler de KAV-250cd/2. De speler beschikt over een nieuw (Philips) loopwerk en een nieuw ontworpen analoge uitgangstrap die direct is afgeleid van de uitgangstrap van de KAV300cd. De prijs van de KAV250cd/2 zal rond de HFL 12.500,- komen te liggen.

Over
een vooruitziende blik gesproken! Meldde ik enige maanden geleden (7 maart
2000) "bij wijze van grap" dat "Classé, sorry we bedoelen
"Klasse", terug was bij ons!", blijkt dat het merk inderdaad
weer eens van distributeur gewisseld is. Oorspronkelijk bij ons begonnen,
daarna "collected" door Audio Quartet, werd het weggesnoept door
Audiac en is het nu waarschijnlijk als "mijn eerste liefde" opgenomen
door de staalharde MM-tjes die noch in de mond, noch in de hand, noch in de
ziel "smeltverschijnselen" vertonen. Wedden dat we deze maand een
nieuwe "beste versterkertje van de klas" hebben? "Pro" is
blijkbaar niet alleen de eerste lettergreep van "professioneel"!
Ander verbazingwekkend nieuws is de aankondiging dat B&W, na jarenlang
vertegenwoordigd te zijn geweest door Audioscript, afscheid genomen heeft van
deze firma. Bovenstaande berichten hebben beslist wat woelige en van
transpiratie voorziene nachten opgeleverd op de Gooise Matras.

Oei oei, wat vliegt de tijd! Vanaf de verjaardag van de Koningin tot de mijne, ben ik "even" afwezig geweest. Behalve wat broodnodige "zonnestralen" heeft dat voor de familie ook nog een gebroken voet opgeleverd. Die zit dus voorlopig in het gips. In het Engels noemen ze dat "cast". Dus zelfs in de vakantie lopen we nog promotie te maken voor mijnheer D'Agostino van Krell. En zo hoort het ook. We moeten eens proberen een foto van de voet van Floor op de site te zetten en een manier vinden om er op afstand een handtekening op te kunnen zetten.
Marcel heeft overigens de eerste Krell voorversterker met CAST-uitgang uit de doos mogen halen, beluisterd en de eerste indrukken beschreven. Klik en lees! Al eerder had hij ook over de Theta Dreadnaught zijn licht laten schijnen. Wederom: klik en lees! Rob Wilms ziet eindelijk zijn "mei-nieuws" geplaatst en vanwege het feit dat de maand mei inmiddels ten einde loopt, herdopen we dat hierbij tot het mei-juni nieuws van DÉ HIFIWINKEL Beek. Let op de vakantieplannen van Rob, zodat U niet voor een gesloten winkeldeur staat.

OPGELET! We gaan het weer over "onze" Philips E288CC SQ buisjes hebben. De afgelopen dagen hebben we 2 keer 10 stuks aangeboden gekregen. Op het ene aanbod zijn we ingegaan (er kunnen dus weer 5 mensen van een Tjoeb 99 EsKjoe voorzien worden) en van het andere aanbod hebben we afgezien. Dit betrof namelijk 10 "rejects", d.w.z. exemplaren die ooit vanwege kwaliteitsredenen -we weten niet door wie- "geweigerd/afgewezen" zijn. Het is inmiddels bekend dat deze 10 buisjes toch in Nederland -we weten helaas niet bij wie- terecht gekomen zijn. Wees dus voorzichtig als Philips E288CC SQ aangeboden wordt. Het is echt een zeldzame en helaas ook dure buis, en er zal dus mogelijk misbruik gemaakt worden van uw vertrouwen.

Misschien niet het allergrootste nieuws van de dag, maar wij wensen al onze relaties een Vrolijk Pasen. Vorige jaren deden we dat middels een email-boodschap aan zo'n 25.000 hifi-geïnteresseerden. Echter omdat er 2 personen tussen zaten die helemaal geen prijs stelden op een Vrolijk Pasen, raakten we dus mooi ons Hotmail adres kwijt. We hadden "gespamd". Tsja, waarschijnlijk behoren die mensen tot de groep "uitverkorenen" die met "azijn" in plaats van moedermelk de eerste (vrolijke?) stappen in het leven gezet hebben. Veel plezier ermee, zullen we maar zeggen.
De Theta Dreadnaught, waar we het al eerder over gehad hebben in deze nieuwsrubriek, begint groeiende tekenen van populariteit te vertonen. En dat nog wel in de 2-kanaals uitvoering!
Door de "ophef" over de Philips E288CC SQ Gold Pin buizen, hebben we besloten een enigszins aangepaste Tjoeb te maken, een zogenaamde Tjoeb 99 "EsKjoe" dus. In deze Tjoeb zitten dus een AC Noise Killer, een SuperCrystal en een setje Philips E288CC SQ Gold Pin buizen (zolang de voorraad strekt!!). Om de kap toch sluitend te krijgen wordt de uitgangsprint via een montagebeugeltje een slag gedraaid. De (langere) Philips E288CC SQ Gold Pin buizen kunnen dan liggend in plaats van staand gemonteerd worden.
Ferry heeft met de voornoemde Philips E288CC SQ Gold Pin buizen ook geëxperimenteerd in zijn Copland CSA 28 versterker. Zijn ervaringen zijn beslist het vermelden en lezen waard. Die volgen hier dan ook zo spoedig mogelijk!
In aantocht zijn de AH! TjoebSjoes. Dit zijn dan eindelijk de vervangers voor de karige voetjes van de Marantz CD-38. Momenteel wordt een manual geschreven, zodat iedereen die een Tjoeb heeft, in staat is de nieuwe TjoebSjoes zelf aan te brengen.
Ook in aantocht zijn de nieuwe Krell KPS-28c cd-speler en de nieuwe Krell KCT voorversterker. Zoals we enige tijd geleden in Eindhoven al hebben kunnen vaststellen is dit spannend mooi materiaal!

Ons buizen-avontuur met de Philips E288CC SQ Gold Pins en de beschrijving ervan door Marcel van Overbeek en Rob Wilms heeft nogal wat los gemaakt! Echt tientallen mensen hebben ons benaderd omdat zij dachten ons te kunnen helpen aan meer van deze buizen. In alle gevallen ging het daarbij helaas om slechts 2 of 3 exemplaren, was er geen garantie dat het originele of ongebruikte exemplaren waren, of bleek het om E188CC of 88CC buizen te gaan. Wie van de (met name Amerikaanse en Engelse) buizen-experts we ook spreken, de Philips E288CC SQ Gold Pins worden "the best" of ook wel "awe-some" genoemd. Unaniem is men van mening dat we vreselijk veel "mazzel" gehad hebben om een partijtje gegarandeerd ongebruikte buizen van dit type te vinden bij een als betrouwbaar bekend staande bron. Iedereen die dus een setje van deze partij heeft, mag zich dus blijkbaar gelukkig prijzen.
Marcel was met zijn Philips E288CC SQ Gold Pins overigens nog niet "uitgebuisd". In zijn "muziekkeuken van anna-loog-niet en digi-taal-soms-wel" heeft hij nog eens wat geëxperimenteerd met wat Mullard buisjes. Klik en lees over zijn (S)Mullards!

Voor
de ongeduldigen: de fotoos van Koos komen er echt aan. Ze zitten alleen nog
"elders" in de computer en moeten nog overgeheveld worden.
Ok, het feit dat we in Nederland met de Tjoeb cd-speler stevig vastgehouden
hebben aan levering met een betaalbare "standaard" buis (toch nog
altijd een "bekwame" Philips NOS buis) is mijn schuld als je
het zo mag zeggen. Op die manier kunnen we een konstante kwaliteit aanbieden
tegen een vaste (absoluut acceptabele) prijs. Maar ...... als je dan tegen een
werkelijk uniek partijtje van 40 -gegarandeerd ongebruikte- Philips E288CC
Special Quality Gold Pins aanloopt, dan worden onder invloed van
bloeddrukverhoging, zenuwaantasting, troebele blik en geblokkeerd denkvermogen,
even de pricipes opzij gezet. Daar zit je dan in een klap met 40 buisjes met
een krankjorumprijs van HFL 225,-. Niet per set, maar PER STUK!! Verder zijn ze
ook nog eens GROTER en passen dus standaard niet in een Tjoeb..... Mmmm, wat moet
je er mee? Wel, ik houd in ieder geval 2 of 3 setjes voor mijzelf en verder kan
ik dus nog een 17 of 18 liefhebbers die net zo "afwijkend" zijn van
een setje voorzien. Sorry, nog maar 11 liefhebbers, want goed nieuws schijnt
met de dag sneller te reizen! Verder hebben we ook een optie op een kleine
partij Mullard Gold Pins (prijs nog niet bekend), die we komende week binnen
hopen te krijgen ter test. Later dit weekend hoop ik op deze site te laten zien
wat Marcel van Overbeek (DÉ HIFIWINKEL Eindhoven) en Rob Wilms (DÉ HIFIWINKEL
Nijmegen) over "het nieuwe glaswerk" te melden hebben.

Goed nieuws! Koos leeft (nog)! Hoewel Petrus al aan de poort op de uitkijk stond, heeft Koos toch uitstel gekregen. Na zijn bezoek aan de Rotterdamse HifiShow meende Koos, gezeten in zijn eigentijdse uitvoering (gele Kangoo) van de aloude Franse Eend, de confrontatie met een gele, zwaargewicht Dino (rijdend voor de Rotterdamse Tram Dienst) aan te kunnen gaan. Helaas. Geplet tussen Dino en een (gelukkig) meegevend paaltje, konden deskundigen en omstanders maar een conclusie trekken: Kangoo TL (Total Loss). Alfred heeft nog enige plaatjes geschoten van de Kangoo TL, wachtend in het voorportaal van de eeuwige jachtvelden. Over enkele dagen kunt U hier klikken voor de/het laatste blik.
Rob Wilms, ook al zo'n coureur (zie eerder nieuws), heeft weer wat "Nieuws uit Beek" aan zijn Nieuwsrubriek toegevoegd. Klik hier voor een snelle doorverbinding.

Classé,
sorry we bedoelen "Klasse", is terug bij ons! Het moge misschien niet
voor iedereen duidelijk zijn wat ik bedoel, maar hier gaat ie dan:
De oorspronkelijke oprichter van Classé Audio is Dave Reich (let op de initialen
D.R.). Grote ontwerpen van zijn hand waren onder ander de DR3 en DR3VHC
eindversterkers. Classé werd destijds door ons, Durob Audio, vertegenwoordigd
en werd beschouwd als een evenwichtige concurrent voor een opkomend merk als
Krell. Het bedrijf Classé Audio bleef groeien en Dave Reich kreeg al spoedig
"assistentie" van een van zijn Canadese dealers Glenn Grue. Aardige
man. Zelfs zo aardig dat sommige mensen de "r" in zijn achternaam
vervingen door een "l". Behalve zijn aardigheid zag men ook een steeds
toenemende invloed van Glenn Grue en op een gegeven moment was Dave Reich
"gewipt". Dave was gefopt door zijn nieuwe partner! Ik weet wat het
is (wacht op mijn audio-memoires!!!) en de rancune van DR jegens GG is in ieder
geval voor mij alleszins begrijpelijk en acceptabel.
GG ging verder met "zijn" Classé Audio en geleidelijk aan zag men de
DR kentekenen verdwijnen. Op een gegeven moment werd tijdens een CES Show in
Las Vegas de nieuwe lijn van Classé Audio geïntroduceerd. De binnenzijde van de
versterkers werd opgesierd met een gesigneerd plaatje "Designed by Glenn
Grue". Opkomst van een nieuw "ego"! Dat ontlokte aan mij de
uitspraak "Ik wist niet dat je kon solderen!". Ik weet mijn vrienden
te maken! Anyway, het leven ging door en Glenn Grue kreeg
"assistentie" van een van oorsprong Griekse mede-investeerder, een
zekere Mike die de pegels ruim verdiend had in de rederij en wel eens wat
anders wilde. So far, so good.
Inmiddels had een Franse firma in Frankrijk de distributie van Classé Audio op
zich genomen en altijd al bekend om het tot zich nemen van
"hap-klare" brokken, verzochten zij Classé Audio om Belgie te mogen
overnemen van ons, Durob Audio. Toen mij dat voorstel werd voorgelegd, was ik
natuurlijk allerminst enthousiast (immers in audioland neemt men in dergelijke
gevallen alles "gratis" over en wordt je op geen enkele manier
"bedankt" voor de gedane arbeid). In mijn enthousiasme adviseerde ik
Mike dan ook dat hij Nederland dan ook in zijn "...." (sorry, het was
plat!) kon steken. Tsja, als je iets niet tegen een Griek moet zeggen, dan is
het dat. Gevolg: Classé forever uit ons (distributie)gezichtsveld verdwenen.
Maar goed, het leven gaat verder, Classé is inmiddels weer 1 of 2 keer van
distributie veranderd, en dan komt er plotseling een levensteken van .........
DR, juist Dave Reich.
Dave Reich blijkt voor Theta aan het werk te zijn. Theta wil een eindversterker
die een indrukwekkende "entrée" in de analoge wereld (tot nog toe was
Theta een puur "digital" company) maakt. Dave Reich wil als
"Dave Revanche" de markt het allerbeste van zijn kunnen bieden. De
eerste indrukken van ons (en ook van bijvoorbeeld Martin Colloms in Hifi News)
zijn absoluut indrukwekkend. Waarbij aangetekend dient te worden dat de
prijskwaliteitsverhouding (zeker voor een Amerikaans produkt) waanzinnig scherp
is. Voor Hfl 13.000,- krijgt U een bloedmooie zero-feedback
stereo-eindversterker, die modulair uitbreidbaar is tot 5-kanalen! Voor nadere
informatie kunt U de nieuwe brochure aanvragen. De naam van de nieuwe "Klasse"
versterker: Theta DReadnaught. Het blijft voorlopig een "mystery" of
het toeval is dat de eerste 2 letters van de naam DReadnaught overeenkomen met
de initialen van Dave Reich. Ik vraag het bij gelegenheid voor U na!

woensdag 8 en donderdag 9 maart 2000 gesloten. Vrijdag 10 maart en zaterdag 11
maart 2000 is de winkel normaal geopend. Een eerdere melding in deze
nieuwsrubriek over de gewijzigde openingsdagen was dus ONJUIST!

U
twijfelt wat de beste cd-speler van dit moment is? U twijfelt wat de beste
dvd-speler van dit moment is? Dan maken we het U gemakkelijk. De Ayre D-1 is
gearriveerd en zoals het ernaar uit ziet maakt hij (zij?) zijn/haar faam waar.
In diverse landen en bladen is de Ayre D-1 uitgeroepen tot de best klinkende en
"tonende" dvd-speler van dit moment. De "audio-versie" is
op afspraak te beluisteren in Eindhoven. In Nijmegen is de D-1 ook uitgerust
met een heel speciale video-kaart.
Wellicht ten overvloede delen wij mede dat het voorkeur verdient reparaties aan
door ons vertegenwoordigde merken ook door ons uit te laten voeren. Door onze
ervaring en die van de fabrikant is dat de beste en snelste (dus goedkoopste)
oplossing. Bovendien zijn wij vaak contractueel gebonden door de fabrikant om
geen schematuur uit handen te geven. Wij leveren geen originele onderdelen aan

verloren. Eis van de dealer waar U eventueel uw kostbare apparaat inlevert een
bewijs dat het apparaat naar de officiële reparatiedienst gestuurd wordt. Van
de afgelopen weken zijn ons al 2 gevallen bekend waar de klant meende dat zijn
(Krell)reparatie bij ons stond, terwijl dat NIET het geval was! Wees op uw
hoede!

U in de week van 7 t/m 11 maart 2000 tevergeefs aanbelt bij DÉ HIFIWINKEL in Beek-Ubbergen delen wij U mede dat in die week Rob Wilms afwezig zal zijn en dat zijn winkel gesloten zal zijn. Dit betreft dus de Carnavalsweek. Geen zorg, Rob gaat géén Carnaval vieren!!

Een "geluk bij een ongeluk"! Een van onze klanten, in het bezit van onder andere een Krell KAV-300i en een Krell KAV-300cd, heeft op een wel zeer bijzondere manier kennis gemaakt met de voordelen van de AH! AC Offset Killer. Leest U verder:
Enige tijd geleden vertoonde de Krell KAV-300i van genoemde klant eigenaardige kuren en moest dus ter observatie opgenomen worden in de technische dienst. In de tussentijd had de klant de beschikking over een van de demo Krell apparaten van DÉ Hifiwinkel. Om onnodige kilometers te maken belde de klant op een gegeven moment om kenbaar te maken dat de demo-Krell wat hem betreft bij hem kon blijven.
Vorige week belde de klant dat een installatiebedrijf onlangs de elektrische installatie had aangepast. Door een fout was echter een gedeelte van zijn huis korte tijd aangesloten geweest op 380V ipv 220V. Verschillende apparaten (zowel audio als andersoortige apparatuur) reageerden daarop met "rookpluimen". Reden genoeg dus om de audio apparatuur weer ter observatie en eventueel reparatie naar Eindhoven te transporteren. Wat bleek aldaar?
Bij het openen van de Krell KAV-300i zagen we dat daarin het laatste pre-produktie exemplaar van de interne AH! AC Offset Killer -zonder dat iemand dat wist- aanwezig was! En wat fraaier was, de AH! AC Offset Killer had de klap van de 380V opgevangen. De Offset Killer had het niet overleefd, maar de Krell KAV-300i wel! Over naar de Krell KAV-300cd. Deze was op hetzelfde stekkerblok aangesloten als de Krell KAV-300i en na een uitvoerige test bleek dat ook dit apparaat zonder schade de overspanning van 380V had overleefd. De AH! AC Offset Killer heeft waarschijnlijk in zijn funktie als parallelfilter, de overspanning mede voor de Krell KAV-300cd geabsorbeerd!

Hedenmiddag eens even de tijd genomen om de aankondiging dat we 24 december 1999 gesloten zijn, te verwijderen. Tevens geprobeerd duidelijk te maken dat we medewerkers zoeken en wat we hopen te vinden.
Verschillende "plaatjes" op de site zijn nu "aanklikbaar, dwz er zit wat achter. Als Uw "pijltje" in een "handje" verandert als U over een plaatje schuift, kunt U "klikken".
Ook Rob (Wilms) heeft het zich aangetrokken en op zijn eigen deel van deze website vindt U dan ook zijn plaatselijke nieuws en verder in de rubriek recensies zijn ervaringen met de nieuwe Vienna Acoustics Mahler luidsprekers.

Dat was weer lang
GEEN nieuws. Althans alhier geregistreerd nieuws. Het barst bij ons voortdurend
van het nieuws, maar deze website is helaas een One Man Show en moet daarom op
de meest onmogelijke tijden bijgehouden worden, vandaar.
De AH! LS Noise Killers zijn -eindelijk- beschikbaar. Prijs HFL 100,- per set.
Dat is dus tegenwoordig ongeveer 1/3e van de Japanse tegenhanger. Is dat niet
harmonisch?
De DÉ MAT van Art Speak is nu ook beschikbaar als een OEM uitvoering onder ons
eigen AH! label en kost (net als DÉ MAT) HFL 40,-. Reden om van DÉ MAT een AH!
uitvoering te maken, zijn de verbeteringen die behaald worden voor een relatief
laag bedrag. In de Tjoeb leidt dat tot een betere laagdefinitie, meer rust in
het totale klankbeeld, een duidelijker diepte-tekening en een schonere hoge
tonen weergave. Samenvattend lijkt het resultaat "analoger".
Natuurlijk is de AH! uitvoering van DÉ MAT ook in andere cd-spelers toepasbaar.
De AH! CDr met een 1000Hz "Tjoen" om de Tjoeb op elke gewenste
uitgangsspanning te brengen is uit en leverbaar voor HFL 20,-.
En nu is het nog even wachten op de "netsnoer"- en
"pootjes"optie voor de Tjoeb. Wordt "heftig" aan gewerkt.
En dan nog even tijd vrijgemaakt voor een leuke: We hebben het afgelopen jaar
nogal eens gelachen over de beweringen van een van onze klanten aangaande het
rustgevende effekt van een Shakti-Stone op zijn schedel tijdens het
"after-dinner"-slaapje. Deze week komt een dealer van ons met het
volgende: Nerveuze cavia krabt zich voortdurende de huid kapot en niets van de
dierenmedicijnman lijkt te helpen. Ten einde raad heeft de eigenaar een
Shakti-on-line over het beestje heengebonden. Resultaat: vanaf dat moment een

Even
een kort berichtje betreffende "buitenkansen" in de wereld van hifi
en andere gruwelijkheden, ofwel "als ik dat geweten had". Ik ga proberen
als ik dit soort zaken tegen het lijf loop, er een klein berichtje van te maken
en dat te plaatsen op deze website.
1. "In de hifi-branche is geen droog brood te verdienen en je moet je het
lep-lazarus werken". Klopt! Maar als je ambitieus bent en je kunt het
zojuist gestelde "combineren", dan kun je het ook anders uitleggen.
Er zijn mij mensen bekend die in de hifi eigenlijk "een dubbele baan"
hebben en zich daarmee ook een "dubbel inkomen" verwerven. Dat is
niet voor iedereen weggelegd, maar als je de mogelijkheden, de energie, de
ambitie, de kwaliteiten, de gezondheid ervoor hebt, dan mag je spreken van een
regelrechte BUITENKANS. En als je je tot die groep van mensen durft te rekenen
en je wil er met mij over praten, stuur
me dan een email.
2. "Altijd al elektrostaten willen hebben, maar die dingen zijn zo
duur". OK, in ieder geval niet goedkoop. Maar let op! Op onze
voor-uitverkoop hadden we 2 paar Martin Logan Aerius luidsprekers staan. Prijs
HFL 1950,- per paar !! Een paar is verkocht, een paar is nog beschikbaar.
Daarvan moeten de statoren vervangen worden. Dat kan en is een eenvoudige zaak.
Zo heb je voor HFL 3.450,- (de helft van de nieuwprijs dus) een komplete set

Zo,
de 3 vóór-uitverkoopdagen zijn voorbij! Met alleen een voor-aankondiging
middels de posterborden in Veldhoven tijdens de VAD-dagen, hebben we toch nog
de belangstelling van een een aanzienlijk aantal mensen getrokken. We denken
nog aan de mogelijkheid om een landelijke november-uitverkoop voor alle winkels
te organiseren. We houden U op de hoogte.
De voortdurende aandacht voor de Tjoeb cd-speler op het internet en het artikel
van Ken Kessler in Hifi News heeft de net weggewerkte wachtlijst weer tot leven
gebracht. Samen met de voor-uitverkoopwerkzaamheden is daar geen ontkomen aan.
We blijven ons best doen om weer van die wachtlijst af te komen!!
We zijn ernstig op zoek naar nieuwe medewerkers! Om teleurstellingen voor alle
partijen te voorkomen, delen we alvast mede, dat we alleen geïnteresseerd zijn
in betrouwbare, ambitieuze mensen die begrijpen dat het sukses van de
organisatie waarvoor ze werken, (ook) hun succes is. Omdat het vinden van
geschikte mensen in deze branche op zijn zachtst gezegd niet eenvoudig is,
houden wij ons aanbevolen voor suggesties. Tevens hopen wij zeer binnenkort een
nieuw hifi-banen-initiatief op deze website te introduceren.

Een aantal klanten, die toevallig op de hoogte waren van de binnengekomen uitnodiging van het VAD bestuur om deel te nemen aan de VAD Show, hebben ons gevraagd met welke systemen we naar Veldhoven komen. Wel, die vraag laat zich SIMPEL maar DROEVIG beantwoorden!
VAN ANGST! DOORDRENKT!
Na ontvangst van de VAD uitnodiging tot deelname hebben we ingeschreven voor 2 demo-ruimtes en 1 expositie-ruimte. Een kleinere ruimte was bedoeld als demo-ruimte voor de AH! Tjoeb '99. De grotere ruimte was gereserveerd voor een SuperSysteem bestaande uit de Wilson Grand Slamm mk2 luidsprekers, de Krell KPS25Sc voorversterker/cd-speler en de Krell Master Reference versterkers. Dit alles gecomplementeerd met Transparent Reference XL bekabeling. In de expositie ruimte zouden nieuwe produkten staan van onder andere Krell, Vienna Acoustics, Wilson Audio, Wilson Benesch, Oracle, ProAc, Sonus Faber, Cairn, SolidSteel, Theta, Copland, Primare, Transparent, Electrocompaniet, AH!, Conrad-Johnson, Ensemble en QLN. Van het VAD-bestuur hebben we een schriftelijke bevestiging gekregen van de toezegging van de gereserveerde ruimtes. Zover geen probleem dus. Echter, .......

Na enige weken kregen we bericht dat een tiental importeurs bezwaar hadden tegen onze deelname. Welke importeurs? Ja, dat kunnen we niet vertellen. Welke bezwaren? Ja, dat weten we niet precies. Probleem? Blijkbaar, want als organisatie was men reeds vele verplichtingen aangegaan. En blijkbaar was het zo dat het wegblijven van 10 importeurs de show financieel in problemen zou kunnen brengen. Om kort te gaan: chantage van de VAD door een blijkbaar belangrijke groep van 10 anonieme importeurs. Ons inziens is het triest te moeten constateren dat men geen ander wapen heeft kunnen vinden om onze aktiviteiten te bestrijden (als dat al nodig zou zijn). En wat te denken van het VAD bestuur dat verzuimd heeft op dat moment zijn funktie neer te leggen?

En
wat wij er zelf van vinden? Tsja, moet je daar veel woorden en tijd aan vuil
maken? Blijkbaar doen we het volgens de concurrentie zo goed, dat ze denken dit
wapen te moeten gebruiken. Het past in de handel en wandel van de Nederlandse
hifi-branche. Na 24 jaar sneert nog vaak de kreet "Herinnert U
zich deze nog?" door het hoofd. Denk maar eens mee aan het
volgende:
In de periode dat DÉ HIFIWINKEL NIJMEGEN
geopend werd, is door een groepje angsthazen van hetzelfde soort als
bovengenoemd, bij in ieder geval één tijdschrift afgedwongen dat zij eerst onze
advertenties mochten beoordelen!! Dit natuurlijk zonder dat wij daarvan op de
hoogte waren. En de uitgever ging daar nog op in ook!
Van in ieder geval 2 tijdschriften hebben we de mededeling gekregen dat als
we meer adverteerden (voor een blad van levensbelang) of als we meer
interessante artikelen ter test aan zouden bieden (ook van levensbelang voor
een blad) wij natuurlijk veel meer kans zouden maken op goede testverslagen!
We kunnen ons nog herinneren een zeer goede test te hebben gekregen (waar
we uiteraard content mee waren) en vreemd opkeken toen we bemerkten dat de
dozen niet eens open geweest waren! Reaktie: Ik ben een goed schrijver en kan
heus wel een boeiend verhaal maken, zonder de doos open te maken.
En zo is er werkelijk een boek te vullen met de
manier waarop de Nederlandse hifi-consument bij de neus wordt genomen. In plat
Nederlands: U wordt in veel gevallen ge***** waar Uzelf bij staat! Of U dat toe
blijft staan is uiteraard uw zaak, maar wij doen er niet aan mee!!
Wij gaan onze eigen weg! Wij kopen geen testen! Wij bieden alleen onze eigen
kwaliteit en die van onze produkten. Dat doen we al bijna 25 jaar en we denken
er niet aan om daar verandering in aan te brengen. We hebben gelukkig veel
klanten in BeNeLux, maar ook daarbuiten -US, Engeland, Singapore, Hong Kong,
Japan etc.- die blijkbaar dezelfde mening zijn toegedaan!

De afgelopen week was er nogal
wat consternatie op de Amerikaanse website www.audioreview.com
. Blijkbaar ook daar hebben mensen er moeite mee als iemand anders op de een of
andere manier iets met succes doet. In dit geval hebben we het dus over het
succes van de Tjoeb '99. Maar goed, dat is allemaal hersteld door de
audioreview webmaster (op verzoek van enkele Amerikaanse Tjoeb-bezitters). Maar
voor ons is er werk aan de (hifi)winkel!!
Een Amerikaanse klant heeft een review geplaatst van 4 
.
Natuurlijk zijn we met het steeds ontvangen van 5 erg
verwend geraakt. Gevolg is dat ons fraaie gemiddelde van 5 geduikeld is naar 4,97 .
Nog steeds niet slecht, maar U kent ons. Dus hoe krijgen we het weer op 5 ? Enig rekenwerk heeft geleerd dat bij 199 reviews
van 5 en 1 review van 4 we op een
gemiddelde uitkomen van 4,9995 . En dan zal
door de afronding het gemiddelde weer uitkomen op . Dus zoals gezegd: werk aan de (hifi)winkel om
zoveel mogelijk tevreden Tjoeb-bezitters te maken! (Ik geloof dat het
bovenstaande wel het lelijkste stukje webpagina is ooit door ons gemaakt!).

$1700 range. It blew him away when he realized it cost $450. Herman, he
suggested that you get rid of the Marantz label. I think that is the
neatest thing about the Tjoeb. Everyone is expecting average performance
and wham, $1500 player performance. I demand, Herman, that the price be
frozen for all people who have been involved this early. If you guys keep
hearing things like this, you'll become greedy instead of altruistic. Do
I hear $1000? How about the cost of a Rega Planet?

Het succes van de AH! Tjoeb '99
cd-speler neemt dagelijks toe. Dat wil zeggen dagelijks meer aanvragen van
binnen- en buitenlandse geïnteresseerden. Reden waarom wij besloten hebben ons
personeelsbestand uit te breiden met een speciale Tjoeb-medewerker. Marcel van
Overbeek, klant van DÉ HIFIWINKEL te Nijmegen en een toegewijd Tjoeb-bezitter,
is de man die deze taak op zich genomen heeft. Marcel had zich al een beetje
wereldberoemd gemaakt met zijn Tjoeb-recensie op de Audioreview website. Na een
inwerkperiode n Eindhoven zal Marcel het merendeel van zijn tijd in Nijmegen te
vinden zijn, waar hij de Marantz Cd-38 spelers zal voorzien van een heus AH!
Tjoeb '99 hart. Daarnaast zal hij ook Rob Wilms bij zijn dagelijkse
werkzaamheden en demo-avonduren / avonturen assisteren. Een foto (let op,
Marcel is de verpersoonlijking van een "Smiley") en levensbeschrijving
van Marcel zal binnenkort op deze site te "bewonderen" zijn.
Ferry is de afgelopen dagen de "zwevende" toer opgegaan met de
"tennisrackets" von Herr Blotevogel. Als je niet weet waar ik het
hier over heb, dan moet dat toch op zijn minst nieuwsgierig maken. Lees er zijn
accessoire-memoire maar eens op na.
Paul heeft tijdens de vakantie van zijn ouders, de Tjoeb '98 van zijn vader
-als vaderdagkado- op laten waarderen naar een Tjoeb '99. Maar dat niet alleen.
Hij heeft ook intern een AH! AC Noise Killer laten plaatsen. Aangestoken door
zijn modificatie/bonificatie-driften heeft hij onder begeleiding ook zijn Tjoeb
'99 mogen voorzien van een intern loodbarium jasje, een precisie quartz-kristal
en een AH! AC Noise Killer. Hij heeft het nu steeds over een AH! Tjoeb '99
"in het kwadraat" of zoiets. Wij wachten af.

De afgelopen weken zijn diverse
medewerkers van onze winkels al op vakantie gegaan. En we blijven het druk
hebben met steeds meer aanvragen voor AH! Tjoeb '99 cd-spelers. Dus niet echt
veel tijd gehad om aandacht te schenken aan de Hifi-Notes website. Vandaag wel
enige informatie on deze website geplaatst voor onze internationale AH!
klanten. Deze pagina's zullen t.z.t. ook in het Nederlands geplaatst worden,
maar tot dan kunt U wat extra Engelse AH! informatie
en extra Engelse AH! Tjoeb '99 informatie tot U
nemen. Ook hebben we de afgelopen weken zo'n vijftigtal schriftelijke reakties
van Nederlandse AH! Tjoeb '99 eigenaren mogen ontvangen. Deze zullen -wederom
als de tijd het toelaat- zo spoedig mogelijk op deze website beschikbaar komen.
Ook reakties van buitenlandse Tjoeb '99 "owners" beginnen af te
komen. En nog plastisch ook:

het openen van deze website. De AH! Tjoeb 98/99 is
opgenomen in The Hall of Fame van Audioreview in Amerika. Worden we weer
wereldberoemder? In ieder geval voor ons een dubbel schitterende dag!

Inderdaad, al weer een heel
tijdje geleden dat hier iets ververst werd. Gisteren daartoe een poging
ondernomen, maar doordat op het moment van "opslaan", de computer
spontaan in de "opstartmethode" ging en daarmee alles verloren ging,
nu weer een nieuwe poging.
Hoewel wij vanwege onze "pauze" in website-aanvulling wellicht in de
Hall Of Shame thuishoren, kan ik toch met bijzonder veel plezier berichten dat
onze AH! Tjoeb cd-speler op het punt staat wereldwijd
(eeuwige?) roem te verwerven: opname in Audioreview"s Hall of Fame!
Dit doet weer denken aan de tijden van weleer, toen wij verantwoordelijk waren
voor de wereldwijde kennismaking met produkten van onder
andere Kiseki en Milltek (mc-elementen,
pu-arm), Interface (platenmatten, record-clamps, cd-matjes), Cogelco
(zilverkabel), PinPoints (kegels), Audiophile Products
(mc trafo's). Wellicht aardig om eens een historische webpagina aan deze
produkten van weleer te wijden. Maar eerst natuurlijk eerst een speciale pagina

Verder heb ik nog enkele testberichten in voorraad van Ferry Kremers, Rob Wilms
en een klant van DÉ HIFISTUDIO die -terecht- dringend om plaatsing vragen. Bij
de winkelgegevens zijn inmiddels de algemene openingstijden vermeld. Niet de
meest belangwekkende zaak ter wereld, maar wel handig als dat kan voorkomen dat
U onverhoopt voor een gesloten (winkel)deur komt te staan. Bij speciale
(feest)dagen wel altijd even telefonisch controleren hoe de vlag erbij hangt!
Last but not least enige "wereld-nieuws". Door verschillende oorzaken
is de buizenproduktie hier en daar enigszins verstoord: Rusland (vanwege
deskundige desorganisatie van het land), Joegoslavie (vanwege zinloze
verspilling van mensenlevens, energie en kapaitaalgoederen), China (een van de
belangrijkste fabrikanten van ECC83 buisjes heeft de machines naar buiten
gereden en produceert nu ........... sigaretten; alsof dat wel gezond is!). De
(on)beroemde heer Alesa Vaic die verantwoordelijk gehouden wordt voor de Vaic
en Audio Note buizen, schijnt nu eindelijk opgehouden te zijn met de produktie
ervan. De wereldwijde nazorg vanwege de levering van onbetrouwbare buizen is

eindgebruiker -die meestal de dupe is bij dit soort affaires- niet tijdig
informeert over reputatie van personen en produkten.

Even een korte aankondiging: "Ferry maak nog steeds Herrie!" Hebben we het -gelukkig- erg druk met onze diverse bezigheden, Ferry heeft toch een gaatje gevonden om wat op diskette te zetten. Ferry gaat van "overkill"! Ik heb overigens nog enkele berichten van hem in de "pipeline". Een over de Copland CSA-28 en een over de eerste Electrocompaniet cd-speler. Ook een van zijn klanten heeft ons daarover een stuk gestuurd. Graag nog even uw geduld!

U kunt zich voorstellen dat er zo
af en toe vragen komen in de trend van: "Wat zit er in een Krell?",
Hoe komt het dat een Sonus Faber Concertino zus en zo klinkt?", "Wat
hebben jullie allemaal precies aan de Marantz CD-38 gedaan om er een Tjoeb '98
of '99 van te maken?", "Hoe maak je een ......?" Etc. Etc.
U begrijpt dat dit meestal vragen zijn, waar we niet veel of niks mee kunnen.
Maar eentje kunnen we redelijk beantwoorden middels een korte foto-reportage. "Hoe maak je een Sonus Faber
Amati?" Kijkt U maar eens rond op deze -wellicht- trage pagina. Bedenk
dat ie vol SF Amati foto's staat!

De goede surfer heeft aan een halve webpagina genoeg! Als U tot hier gekomen bent dan zult U vast wel opgemerkt hebben dat onze Kerstkaart verdwenen is. Wellicht dat U het zelfs een verandering ten goede vindt. In ieder geval zal het duidelijk zijn dat Oracle weer terug -bij ons- is. En dat doet ons plezier! Spoedig meer nieuws daarover. En, ik zou het bijna vergeten: de netsporen (A) zijn aangevuld met alle recensies van de AH! Tjoeb '98 en '99.

Geplaatst ter lering en vermaak diverse recensies in de rubriek audiorecensies apparatuur. In the picture staan de AH! Tjoeb '98 én '99. Bovendien het vervolg van Rob's Transparent Powerlink Reference XL-perikelen. Ook "available" maar nog niet -hier- geplaatst, is een AH! Tjoeb '99 recensie van Paul de Ruiter. Deze is rechtstreeks in het Engels geschreven en geplaatst in Audioreview. Een dezer dagen wordt zijn "heldendicht" ook hier geplaatst. Eerst moet ik op deze site nog enige Kerstbomen wegwerken ........

Long, long ago! Dank je Peter Tetteroo!
We hebben het echt verschrikkelijk druk met onze Tjoeb's. Maar toch even een
kort berichtje tussen door en ik beloof morgen -dit weekeinde dus- bij U terug
te komen.
We weten allemaal hoe "moordend" de concurrentie in deze branche is.
Kijk en luister maar naar de diverse handelaren, tijdschriften en -waar is mijn
boezem nou?- ons. Aardig was daarom het volgende korte telefoongesprek dat
plaatsvond tussen Robert Beurkens van DÉ HIFIWINKEL EINDHOVEN en een medewerker
van een collega-dealer (een concurrent dus):
"Ik heb een leuke cd-speler van jullie gehoord. Een Marantz CD-38
Tjoeb."
Robert: "Zo, en vond je het iets?"
"Ja, het klonk erg goed, het swingde enorm!"
Robert: "Leuk om te horen. Ik zal je Herman even geven, dan
kun je het er verder met hem over hebben".
Als de concurrentie zo spreekt over onze Tjoeb '99, dan moet het -zeker
voor die prijs- toch wel een heel bijzonder ding zijn!

Deze keer loopt op deze pagina
zowel het nieuws van januari 1999 als februari 1999. Vandaag is geplaatst een artikel
van Ferry Kremers aangaande zijn eerste
bevindingen met de Wilson Audio Maxx. Dan vergeten we natuurlijk even zijn krachtmeting bij het lossen van deze gigantjes.
Ook hebben we bij de rubriek netsporen de recensies van AH! / Huismerk
Tjoeb '98 geplaatst. Dat betekent dat deze recensies op deze site dus
dubbel te vinden zijn, maar dat verdient ons spelertje wel! "If
better is not good enough" zullen we maar zeggen.

OK. Vorige week hoopte ik "later op de dag" nog wat aanvullingen op deze site te verrichten. Dat is niet gelukt, maar vandaag -ondanks "the sunny day"- is er geen ontkomen meer aan. Kijkt U maar eens bij het nieuws van DÉ HIFISTUDIO en klik door naar de artikelen van Ferry. We hebben weer 2 "www-promotors" geplaatst. Die foto's mag je niet missen! Rob Wilms (en enkele van zijn klanten) hebben wat muzikale ervaringen aan het papier toevertrouwd. Lees over de Sonus Faber Concerto Grand Piano en de nieuwe Amati, de nieuwe Transparent Reference XL Power Cables, de reeds bekende Transparent PLP in vergelijk met een Electrocompaniet netkabel en de Tjoeb '98. Dat ook Kees van de Wiel helemaal TJOEP was van zijn Tjoeb '98 heeft U al kunnen lezen bij Audioreview. Nu ook bij ons in het Nederlands! Op naar een nieuwe maand!

Even een korte mededeling dat deze maand in het teken heeft gestaan van de afwerking van de eindejaars-perikelen, het jaarlijkse bezoek aan de LAS Vegas CES en de onvermijdelijke "griep"-dagen erna. Mogelijk later op de dag weer wat Hifi-Notes aktiviteiten alhier. Er liggen enkele recensies van Ferry Kremer, Rob Wilms en van enige klanten die hun bevindingen aan het papier en floppy toevertrouwd hebben.
